Aim: Ultrasonography (US) has shown accuracy in imaging healthy periodontium. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of US for estimating dimensions of inflamed periodontium induced by ligature and bacteria.
Methods: Periodontal tissues of maxillary as well as mandibular premolars and molars in six female mini pigs were treated with ligature and three strains of bacteria for 4-10 weeks.

Study Design: Eighty-five cases of OSCC diagnosed between 1996 and 2010 at the Clinics Hospital of Porto Alegre (Porto Alegre, Brazil) were included. Slides stained with hematoxylin and eosin were obtained, and a histologic grade was assigned on the basis of the consensus of 3 expert oral pathologists, who were blinded to the clinicopathologic factors.
Aims: Epigenetics refers to changes in cell characteristics that occur independently of modifications to the DNA sequence. Oral carcinogenesis is influenced by modifications in epigenetic mechanisms, including changes in histones, which are proteins that support chromatin remodelling for the dynamic regulation of gene expression and silencing.
