A systematic study of various metal-insulator transition (MIT) associated phases of VO, including metallic R phase and insulating phases (T, M1, M2), is required to uncover the physics of MIT and trigger their promising applications. Here, through an oxide inhibitor-assisted stoichiometry engineering, we show that all the insulating phases can be selectively stabilized in single-crystalline VO beams at room temperature. The stoichiometry engineering strategy also provides precise spatial control of the phase configurations in as-grown VO beams at the submicron-scale, introducing a fresh concept of phase transition route devices.

Methods: The sample includes 2,163 10- to 14-year-old adolescents from Kinshasa, interviewed at two time points (T0 and T1), 1 year apart. We examined associations between SDS and pubertal onset, family interactions, peer interactions, and media exposure.
Natural astaxanthin helps reduce the negative effects caused by oxidative stress and other related factors, thereby minimizing oxidative damage. Therefore, it has considerable potential and broad application prospects in human health and animal nutrition. is considered to be the most promising cell factory for the production of natural astaxanthin.

Objectives: The anti-tumor effects of propofol and the possible underlying mechanism including altered metabolic and signaling pathways were studied in the current study.
Gene regulatory networks (GRNs) encode the complex molecular interactions that govern cell identity. Here we propose DeepSEM, a deep generative model that can jointly infer GRNs and biologically meaningful representation of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. In particular, we developed a neural network version of the structural equation model (SEM) to explicitly model the regulatory relationships among genes.

The goal of the Azithromycin to Prevent Wheezing following severe RSV bronchiolitis II (APW-RSV II) clinical trial is to evaluate if azithromycin treatment in infants hospitalized with RSV bronchiolitis reduces the occurrence of RW during the preschool years. The APW-RSV II clinical trial is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, randomized trial, including otherwise healthy participants, ages 30 days-18 months, who are hospitalized due to RSV bronchiolitis.

The BCs used in this study were prepared using two different feedstocks with different temperatures. Element analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results suggested that the aromaticity of one of the BCs, 700HSBC was significantly different from the 700PSBC although both of them were prepared at the same temperature (700 °C) with similar pore size distributions and specific surface areas.

Objectives: To detect the prevalence and subgroups of adolescents reporting CSAs or HRBs, and to examine the association between the subgroups.
Methods: Participants were secondary school students in a national survey in China (N = 8746).
Objective: To assess the effects of PTH (1-34) on bone and cartilage metabolism in a collagenase-induced mouse model of osteoarthritis (OA) and examine whether PTH (1-34) affects the expression of JAK2/STAT3 and WNT5A/ROR2 in this process.
Methods: Eighteen 12-week-old male C57Bl/6 mice were randomly assigned into three groups as follows: sham group (Group A), the collagenase + saline injection group (Group B), and the collagenase + PTH (1-34) treatment group (Group C). Collagenase was injected (intra-articular) into the knee joint of Group B and C.
Background: Solute carrier (SLC) 22 A1, A2, and A3 are polyspecific transporters transporting organic cations like histamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, MPP + , and toxins. The expression of SLC22A1-A3 in cancer is seldom investigated, and the function of SLC22A1-A3 in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is never elucidated.
Materials: In our study, we detected the expression of SLC22A1-A3 in 11 fresh GBMs and tumor-adjacent brain tissues with qPCR, and in 129 paraffin-embedded GBMs with immunohistochemistry (IHC).
Study Question: What is the transcriptome signature associated with poor performance of rescue IVM (rIVM) oocytes and how can we rejuvenate them?
Summary Answer: The GATA-1/CREB1/WNT signalling axis was repressed in rIVM oocytes, particularly those of poor quality; restoration of this axis may produce more usable rIVM oocytes.
What Is Known Already: rIVM aims to produce mature oocytes (MII) for IVF through IVM of immature oocytes collected from stimulated ovaries. It is not popular due to limited success rate in infertility treatment.
Background: Although adjacent segmental intervertebral disc degeneration (ASDD) is one of the most common complications after lumbar fusion, its exact mechanism remains unclear. As an antibody to RANKL, denosumab (Dmab) effectively reduces bone resorption and stimulates bone formation, which can increase bone mineral density (BMD) and improve osteoporosis. However, it has not been confirmed whether Dmab has a reversing or retarding effect on ASDD.

Previous studies indicated gender role attitudes (GRA) were associated with alcohol use; however, few studies focused on early adolescents (10 to 14years) and similar researches were not found in China. This study sought to explore the association between GRA and alcohol use among early adolescents.

Developing adsorbents for adsorbing phosphate within soil buffer zones and/or water treatment columns may be effective methods to mitigate this problem. In this study, an amorphous FeOOH (AF) and a well-crystallized α-FeOOH (CF) was formulated to compare phosphate adsorption behavior.

The phosphate functional groups were successfully incorporated onto the PGO surface by the formation of P-C bonds as identified by the analysis of FTIR and XPS spectra. The evaluation of adsorption capacity of resorcinol onto PGO exhibited significant improvement of resorcinol removal, achieving an adsorption capacity of 50.

Meiotic crossovers (COs) have intriguing patterning properties, including CO interference, the tendency of COs to be well-spaced along chromosomes, and heterochiasmy, the marked difference in male and female CO rates. During meiosis, transverse filaments transiently associate the axes of homologous chromosomes, a process called synapsis that is essential for CO formation in many eukaryotes. Here, we describe the spatial organization of the transverse filaments in (ZYP1) and show it to be evolutionary conserved.

Accurately identifying DNA polymorphisms can bridge the gap between phenotypes and genotypes and is essential for molecular marker assisted genetic studies. Genome complexities, including large-scale structural variations, bring great challenges to bioinformatic analysis for obtaining high-confidence genomic variants, as sequence differences between non-allelic loci of two or more genomes can be misinterpreted as polymorphisms. It is important to correctly filter out artificial variants to avoid false genotyping or estimation of allele frequencies.
