Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death among all gynecological malignancies, and drug resistance renders the current chemotherapy agents ineffective for patients with advanced metastatic tumors. We report an effective treatment strategy for targeting metastatic ovarian cancer involving a nanoformulation (Bola/IM)─bola-amphiphilic dendrimer (Bola)-encapsulated imatinib (IM)─to target the critical mediator of ovarian cancer stem cells (CSCs) CD117 (c-Kit). Bola/IM offered significantly more effective targeting of CSCs compared to IM alone, through a novel and tumor-specific β-catenin/HRP2 axis, allowing potent inhibition of cancer cell survival, stemness, and metastasis in metastatic and drug-resistant ovarian cancer cells.

Using thermodynamic and thermal activation measurements we report the experimental observation of a universal closing of the charge neutrality gap in the Hofstadter spectrum of TDBG at 1/2 magnetic flux per unit cell, in agreement with theoretical predictions for a valley Chern number 2 gap. Our theoretical analysis of the experimental data shows that the interaction energy, while larger than the flat-band bandwidth in TDBG near 1° does not alter the emergent valley symmetry or the single-particle band topology.

Methods: Thirty-seven children (12 males and 25 females) aged 9-14 years with newly diagnosed and untreated GD were enrolled in this study. Serum TL1A, IL-17, and IL-21 levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
Objective: The objective was to explore the characteristics of risk factors in children with cerebral palsy (CP), focusing on the effects of single risk factors and the number of risk factors on the classification, GMFCS level, and comorbidities of children with CP.
Methods: The medical records of children with CP hospitalized from 2015 to 2023 were reviewed. The effects of nine risk factors, such as hyperbilirubinemia, asphyxia, and HIE, on the classification, GMFCS level and comorbidities of children with CP were studied.
Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are characterized by deficits in social functioning, stereotyped patterns of behaviors, narrowed interests, and elevated anxiety. Certain ASD symptoms can persist, whereas others may improve throughout the lifespan, but the specific patterns of changes have not been clearly delineated. Using a valproic acid (VPA) rat model of ASD, the present study took a developmental approach and examined how autistic-like behaviors, including anxiety-like behavior, object obsession, and social functioning deficits, manifested differently in three critical periods representing preadolescent (postnatal day [PND] 25), adolescent (PND 45), and adulthood life stage (PND 75) in a sex-dependent manner.

In heavy metal-contaminated soils, acidification not only seriously affects fertility but also the effectiveness and sustainability of conventional passivation remediation materials such as biochar. The application of calcium fertilizer may improve soil acidification, alleviate the aging of biochar materials in soil, and improve its remediation ability to composite polluted soil.

Background: Conservative surgery for adenomyosis has been shown to be effective. However, risk factors for postoperative recurrence have yet to be clarified. In this study, we aimed to determine the recurrence rate after conservative surgery for adenomyosis and identify the risk factors for recurrence.

Neoadjuvant PD-1 inhibitor is promising in cutaneous melanoma but remains unknown in acral melanoma (AM). This phase Ib trial study (Clinicaltrials.gov NCT04197882) assessed the efficacy and safety of the combination of neoadjuvant oncolytic virus orienX010 (ori) and anti-PD-1 toripalimab (tori) for resectable AM.

Microbial culture technology was used to induce the synthesis of biogenic monohydrocalcite (BMHC), and mineral characterization, batch adsorption experiments and chemical analyses were further used to investigate the sequestration characteristics, action mechanism, and environmental effects of BMHC on Pb(II)-Ni(II)-Zn(II)-methylene blue (MB) compound pollution. The results show that BMHC is an organic-inorganic mineral composite (about 3.

This article investigates model-free reinforcement learning (RL)-based H control problem for discrete-time 2-D Markov jump Roesser systems ( 2 -D MJRSs) with optimal disturbance attenuation level. This is compared to existing studies on H control of 2-D MJRSs with optimal disturbance attenuation levels that are off-line and use full system dynamics. We design a comprehensive model-free RL algorithm to solve optimal H control policy, optimize disturbance attenuation level, and search for the initial stabilizing control policy, via online horizontal and vertical data along 2-D MJRSs trajectories.

We find the pairing mechanism akin to that in the A_{3}C_{60} family of molecular superconductors: Each AA stacking region of MATBG resembles a C_{60} molecule, in that optical phonons can dynamically lift the degeneracy of the moiré orbitals, in analogy to the dynamical Jahn-Teller effect. Such induced J_{A} has the form of an intervalley anti-Hund's coupling and is less suppressed than U by the Kondo screening near a Mott insulator.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFlat bands and nontrivial topological physics are two important topics of condensed matter physics. With a unique stacking configuration analogous to the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, rhombohedral graphite (RG) is a potential candidate for realizing both flat bands and nontrivial topological physics. Here, we report experimental evidence of topological flat bands (TFBs) on the surface of bulk RG, which are topologically protected by bulk helical Dirac nodal lines via the bulk-boundary correspondence.

Introduction: The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and vitamin D levels in patients with epilepsy (PWE) were systematically evaluated, and the differences between subgroups were analyzed.
Method: We identified all articles investigating the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in patients with epilepsy from the database established in March 2024 from PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase. We divided them into anti-seizure medication (ASM) interventions and non-ASM interventions according to whether or not someone used ASM.
Fungus-growing termite (FGT) nests possess an oxalate pool derived from termite input and fungal oxalogenesis. The effect of oxalate biotransformation in the termite nest on the symbiotic association between FGTs and fungi is poorly understood. Here, we measured the pH value, mineral composition, oxalate and carbonate contents, along with the abundance and composition of oxalotrophic bacteria (OxB) in termite nests.

Here, in Parkinson's disease (PD) model mice, we demonstrated that SIRT1 ameliorates parkinsonism, while SIRT1 knockdown further aggravates PD phenotypes. Mechanistically, SIRT1 interacts with and deacetylates pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) at K135 and K206, thus leading to reduced PKM2 enzyme activity and lactate production, which eventually results in decreased glial activation in the brain.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFatty acid desaturases (FADs) are enzymes that transform carbon‑carbon single bonds into carbon‑carbon double bonds within acyl chains, resulting in the production of unsaturated FAs (UFAs). They are crucial for plant growth, development, and adaptation to environmental stress. In our research, we identified 40 FAD candidates in the Salix matsudana genome, grouping them into seven categories.

Background: with the widespread application of computer network systems in the medical field, the plan-do-check-action (PDCA) and the international classification of diseases tenth edition (ICD-10) coding system have also achieved favorable results in clinical medical record management. However, research on their combined application is relatively lacking. Objective: it was to explore the impact of network systems and PDCA management mode on ICD-10 encoding.

In this study, we aim to evaluate the relationship between different postoperative antithrombotic strategies and in-hospital adverse events in patients undergoing isolated coronary artery bypass grafting surgery.
Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective cohort analysis of patients undergoing isolated CABG due to coronary artery disease (CAD) between 2001 and 2012.
