Objective: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major comorbidity for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study sought to determine the performance of 11 recently developed CVD quality indicators (QI) for RA in clinical practice.
Methods: Medical charts for patients with RA (early disease or biologic-treated) followed at 1 center were retrospectively reviewed.

The use of anti-tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) therapies has led to improved outcomes in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the use of these new therapeutic agents requires careful monitoring for adverse effects. We describe 3 patients who developed neurological disease closely associated with the use of infliximab, a monoclonal antibody that binds to and inactivates TNF-a.

The diagnosis of CD in the setting of SS and other systemic rheumatic diseases can be difficult because they are often associated with a number of gastrointestinal symptoms and diseases. Although the diagnosis of CD is often confirmed by a small bowel biopsy, marker autoantibodies directed against the endomysium of transitional epithelium (EMA) and tissue transglutaminase (tTG) are highly correlated with biopsy-proven disease and serve as a valuable screening test.
