Development of a generic decision guide for patients in oncology: a qualitative interview study.

Background: Many patients with cancer want to be involved in healthcare decisions. For adequate participation, awareness of one's own desires and preferences and sufficient knowledge about medical measures are indispensable. In order to support patient participation, a decision guide for patients with cancer was developed as part of a larger project called TARGET, which specifically aims to improve the care of patients with rare cancer.

- A study evaluated the HPV antibody responses in boys and girls (ages 9-14) who received a 2-dose regimen of the 9-valent HPV vaccine and found their responses comparable to those in young women (ages 16-26) who received a 3-dose regimen, assessed 4 weeks post-vaccination.
- The study involved different dosing schedules for the vaccines among participants and measured HPV antibody levels over 36 months using advanced immunoassay techniques.
- Results indicated that antibody levels were highest one month after vaccination, decreased sharply in the following year, but remained sufficient for protection, showing that a 2-dose regimen can ensure long-lasting immunity for at least 2 to 2.5 years.
