Silver bismuth sulfide nanocrystals (AgBiS NCs) embody a pioneering heavy-metal-free photovoltaic material renowned for its ultrahigh absorption coefficient, offering promising opportunities for advancing the field of ultra-thin and biocompatible solar cells. Currently, the fabrication of AgBiS NC photovoltaic devices relies on hot-injection synthesis and subsequent tedious ligand exchange, leading to high production cost, complex processes and environmental pollution. To improve the retention time and skin-whitening efficacy of Atractylodes macrocephale essential oil (AMO), a novel Pickering emulsion based nanogel loaded with AMO (AMO-PEG) was successfully developed. This formulation employed nano-pearl powder (NPP) as the particle stabilizer for the Pickering emulsion and Bletilla striata polysaccharide (BSP) as the gel matrix. The pH, rheological properties, hardness, and elasticity of AMO-PEG were affected by the ratio of AMO-Pickering emulsion (AMO-PE) to BSP gel matrix.

Tea saponins (TS), a natural biosurfactant extracted from tea trees, were co-ball milled with commercial micro zero-valent iron (mZVI) to produce TS modified mZVI (TS-BZVI) for efficient hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) removal. The findings demonstrated that TS-BZVI could nearly remove 100% of Cr(VI) within 2 h, which was 1.43 times higher than that by ball milled mZVI (BZVI) (70%).

Cadmium (Cd) is highly toxic to plants, but the targets and modes of toxicity remain unclear. We isolated a Cd-hypersensitive mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana, Cd-induced short root 2 (cdsr2), in the background of the phytochelatin synthase-defective mutant cad1-3. Both cdsr2 and cdsr2 cad1-3 displayed shorter roots and were more sensitive to Cd than their respective wild type.
