Objective: To evaluate the feasibility, toxicity and tumor control of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Methods: Fourty-nine patients (Karnofsky performance status (KPS) >or= 80) with local-regional recurrence in the nasopharynx were treated with full course IMRT. Three patients with cervical lymph node metastasis (N1 2 and N3 1) were further supplemented with 5 to 6 courses of chemotherapy (Cisplatin + 5-Fu) after IMRT.

Aim: To conduct a randomized trial to evaluate the role of using high-dose iodized oil transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in the treatment of large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: From January 1993 to June 1998, 473 patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma were divided into two groups: 216 patients in group A received more than 20 mL iodized oil during the first TACE treatment; 257 patients in group B received 5-15 mL iodized oil in the same way. The Child's classification and ICG-R15 for evaluating the liver function of the patients were done before the treatment.

AIM:To recognize the characteristic findings of micro-liver cancer (MLC) and to evaluate the effect of CT arterial portography (CTAP) and CT hepatic arteriography (CTHA) in diagnosis of MLC.METHODS:Between April 1996 to December 1998, CTAP and CTHA were performed in 12 patients with MLC, which were not detected by conventional CT examinations. After CTHA, 3mL-5mL mixture of lipiodol, doxorubicin and mitoycin C were injected into hepatic artery through the catheter, and the followed up by CT three or four weeks later (Lipiodol CT Lp-CT).

AIM:To recognize the characteristic findings of non-pathologic perfusion defects with CT arterial portography (CTAP) and nonpathologic enhancement found in CT hepatic arteriography (CTHA).METHONDS:The manifestations of nonpathologic perfusion defects with CTAP and non pathologic enhancement found in CTHA were analyzed in 50 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma.RESULTS:The false-positive rate of perfusion defects detected in CTAP was 15.
