The tumor microenvironment (TME) facilitates tumor development through intricate intercellular signaling, thereby supporting tumor growth and suppressing the immune response. Thyroid hormone receptor interactor 13 (TRIP13), an AAA+ ATPase, modulates the conformation of client macromolecules, consequently influencing cellular signaling pathways. TRIP13 has been implicated in processes such as proliferation, invasion, migration, and metastasis during tumor progression.

Cancer is one of the greatest dangers to human wellbeing and survival. A key barrier to effective cancer therapy is development of resistance to anti‑cancer medications. In cancer cells, the AAA+ ATPase family member thyroid hormone receptor interactor 13 (TRIP13) is key in promoting treatment resistance.

Canopy interception loss affects the local water budget by removing a non-negligible proportion of rainfall from the terrestrial surface. Thus, quantifying interception loss is essential for thoroughly understanding the role of vegetation in the local hydrological cycle, especially in dryland ecosystems. However, sparse shrubs in dryland ecosystems have not been sufficiently studied, owing to time- and labor-intensive field experiments and challenging model parameterization.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between niacin intake and constipation in adults using data from the NHANES survey.
  • It analyzed 5,170 participants, identifying those who experienced constipation and correlating it with niacin intake gathered from dietary recalls.
  • Results indicated that lower niacin intake (0-18 mg) is linked to a higher risk of constipation, particularly when compared to a slightly higher intake (18-27 mg).

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains one of the most common and highly fatal malignancies in humans worldwide with increasing prevalence and limited therapeutic options. For many decades, many researchers have attempted to find effective curative methods for HCC and great strides have been made. GPC3 is overexpressed in HCC, but not in normal liver, making it a rational immunotherapeutic target for HCC.

Background: Xanthii Fructus was used in the treatment of rhinitis and related nasal disease. It is the most commonly used chemically active component in compounds formulated for the treatment of rhinitis. However, poisoning, resulting in serious consequences, can easily occur owing to cocklebur overdose, improper processing, or usage without processing.

Introduction: We report a patient with extraordinary pontine infarction-induced contralateral central facial palsy and weakened limb strength.

Case Report: This is a 66-year-old man with left arm movement difficulty for 10 days and worsening over the last 1 day. His left nasolabial fold flattening and left arm strength and sensory were decreased.

Aluminum phosphide is a highly effective insecticide for fumigation in granaries and is often used in rural grain storage. However, people's awareness of its toxicity is not strong. A case of acute inhalation toxicity of phosphine caused by the use of aluminum phosphide to fumigate a granary is reported here.

Nitrobenzene poisoning is uncommon, with most cases occurring in the dye, paint, and other chemical industries. Nitrobenzene enters the body mainly through the skin, respiratory tract, and oral cavity. Nitrobenzene poisoning symptoms include hypermethemoglobinemia, hemolytic anemia, liver and kidney dysfunction, cardiogenic pulmonary edema, and toxic encephalopathy, which endanger people's lives.

Purpose: Clinical outcome of spinal cavernous malformation (SCM) varies because of its unclear natural history, and reliable prognostic prediction model for SCM patients is limited. The aim of the present study was to investigate potential factors that predict one-year neurological status in postoperative patients with SCM.

Methods: This was a multicenter prospective observational study in consecutive patients with SCMs.

Objective: Acute ischemic stroke is a current major disabling and killer disease worldwide. We aimed to investigate the protective effect and mechanism of diammonium glycyrrhizinate in alleviating acute ischemic stroke.

Methods: Ninety male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats (weighing 250-300 g) were randomly allocated into three groups: sham operation group (sham group), diammonium glycyrrhizinate group (DG group) and model group (model group) each with 30 individuals.

Diquat is a herbicide that can have deleterious effects on the kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, and central nervous system on ingestion. Diquat poisoning-associated rhabdomyolysis has rarely been reported. We describe two cases of diquat poisoning with acute renal failure, myocardial damage, and rhabdomyolysis.

Rainfall partitioning by the vegetation canopy represents a significant component of the local hydrological cycle by reshaping the amount and spatial distribution of rainfall. Measuring the components of rainfall partitioning, however, has been a challenging task due to laborious- and time-consuming field experiments. In this study, to probe the influences of long-term afforestation on dynamic patterns of rainfall partitioning, the dominant sand-stabilizing shrub Haloxylon ammodendron at three different ages was selected for field measurements during the 2020-2021 growing season.

Methyl bromide is a pre-plant soil fumigant that is widely used to control nematodes, insects, and fungi in farmlands. Methyl bromide enters the human body through dermal absorption or inhalation and can damage the respiratory, nervous, circulatory, urinary, and other systems. A 62-year-old man who had inhaled a large amount of methyl bromide was admitted to our department.

Background: Pipeline dredging agents are new household deep cleaning products used to dredge blockages in kitchen and bathroom pipeline caused by grease, hair, vegetable residue, paper cotton fibre, and other organic substances. Pipeline dredging agents are corrosive chemicals that can cause poisoning through corrosive damage to the digestive tract; however, this has not been reported clinically. Therefore, this report emphasises that oral pipeline dredging agent poisoning can cause corrosive damage to the digestive tract and may have serious health consequences.
