An entropy-driven catalysis (EDC) strategy is appealing for amplified bioimaging of microRNAs in living cells; yet, complex operation procedures, lacking of cell selectivity, and insufficient accuracy hamper its further applications. Here, we introduce an ingenious all-in-one entropy-driven DNA nanomachine (termed as AIO-EDN), which can be triggered by endogenous apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) to achieve tumor cell-selective dual-mode imaging of microRNA. Compared with the traditional EDC strategy, the integrated design of AIO-EDN achieves autocatalytic signal amplification without extra fuel strands.

Objectives: Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic parasitic disease caused by (), which can lead to complications such as encephalitis and ocular toxoplasmosis. The disease becomes more severe when the host's immune system is compromised. Rhoptry proteins are major virulence factors that enable to invade host cells.

Herein, we developed single-chain polymeric nanoparticles with Cu/N-heterocyclic carbene active sites (SCNP-Cu) to function as peroxidase mimics for in vivo catalysis and chemo-dynamic therapy (CDT). Compared with the enzyme mimics based on unfolded linear polymer scaffold and multichain cross-linked scaffold, SCNP-Cu exhibits improved tumor accumulation and CDT efficiency both in vitro and in vivo.

Even though apoptosis plays a pivotal role in arsenic-induced islet β-cell dysfunction, the explicit underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we have identified that the SET-Rac1 signaling pathway is instrumental in the apoptosis and dysfunction of islet β-cells induced by NaAsO.

Understanding the core competencies of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) students is vital for designing ESP curricula and refining methodologies. This study sought to comprehensively assess the core competencies of Business English students in Chinese higher vocational colleges (HVCs). A questionnaire survey was conducted among 394 Business English students from five HVCs.

Methods: To determine whether clopidogrel could ameliorate high-fat diet (HFD)-induced hepatic steatosis in mice and how it works, mice were fed on normal diet or HFD alone or in combination with or without clopidogrel for 14 weeks, and primary mouse hepatocytes were treated with palmitate/oleate alone or in combination with the compounds examined for 24 h. Body weight, liver weight, insulin resistance, triglyceride and total cholesterol content in serum and liver, histological morphology, transcriptomic analysis of mouse liver, and multiple key MASLD-associated genes and proteins were measured, respectively.
Background: Exploring the effectiveness and safety of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) in the transarterial embolization for common endoleak during and after endovascular repair of aortic aneurysm (EVAR).
Methods: A total of 226 patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) were treated with EVAR in 4 years from August 2019 to February 2023, including 46 patients with ruptured aneurysms (rAAA). 37 cases, 28 nonruptured AAA patients and 9 rAAA patients, developed endoleak during EVAR surgery and follow-up period and were then treated with NBCA for transarterial embolization.

As a biological variable, sex influences the metabolism of and/or response to certain drugs. Vicagrel is being developed as an investigational new drug in China; however, it is unknown whether sex could affect its metabolic activation and platelet responsiveness. This study aimed to determine whether such differences could exist, and to elucidate the mechanisms involved.

Insects discern the presence of hosts (host plants) by integrating chemosensory, gustatory, and visual cues, with olfaction playing a pivotal role in this process. Among these factors, volatile signals produced by host-associated microbial communities significantly affect insect attraction. Microorganisms are widely and abundantly found on the surfaces of humans, plants, and insects.

We show that FBXO10, the interchangeable component of the cullin-RING-ligase 1 complex, undergoes lipid modification with geranylgeranyl isoprenoid at cysteine953, facilitating its dynamic trafficking to the outer mitochondrial membrane (OMM). FBXO10 polypeptide lacks a canonical mitochondrial targeting sequence (MTS); instead, its geranylgeranylation at C953 and interaction with two cytosolic factors, cytosolic factor-like δ subunit of type 6 phosphodiesterase (PDE6δ; a prenyl-group-binding protein) and heat shock protein 90 (HSP90; a chaperone), orchestrate specific OMM targeting of prenyl-FBXO10.

Moreover, WT mice were administered vicagrel alone or in combination with elacridar (a potent P-gp inhibitor) to determine drug-drug interactions.

Herein, the heterogeneous molybdenum and vanadium codoped cobalt carbonate nanosheets loaded on nickel foam (VMoCoCOx@NF) are fabricated by facile hydrothermal deposition. Firstly, the mole ratio of V/Mo/Co in the composite is optimized by response surface methodology (RSM).

Remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) exerts a protective role on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury by the release of various humoral factors. Lactate is a common metabolite in ischemic tissues. Nevertheless, little is known about the role lactate plays in myocardial I/R injury and its underlying mechanism.

Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease (AD and PD) are well-known, yet their underlying causes remain unclear. Recent studies have suggested that disruption of ion channels contribute to their pathogenesis. Among these channels, the hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channels, encoded by HCN1-4 genes, are of particular interest due to their role in generating hyperpolarization-activated current (Ih), which is crucial in various neural activities impacting memory and motor functions.

Agriculture receives approximately 25 % of the annual global nitrogen input, 37 % of which subsequently runs off into adjacent low-order streams and surface water, where it may contribute to high nitrification and nitrous oxide (NO). However, the mechanisms of nitrification and the pathways controlling NO production in agricultural streams remain unknown. Here, we report that the third microbial ammonia oxidation process, complete ammonia oxidation (comammox), is widespread and contributes to important ammonia oxidation with low ammonia-NO conversion in both basin- and continental-scale agricultural streams.
