A biomass-based finishing agent (ArCP) rich in nitrogen and phosphorus was synthesized from glucose, arginine and phosphorous acid, which was then used for lyocell fabrics to prepare flame retardant, antibacterial and UV resistant properties lyocell fabrics (ArCP-lyocell). The elemental composition, surface morphology, combustion performance, antibacterial and UV resistant properties for the lyocell fabrics before and after modification were investigated. ArCP-lyocell fabrics showed excellent self-extinguishing properties with a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 35.

Microgravity can induce alterations in liver morphology, structure, and function, with mitochondria playing an important role in these changes. Tail suspension (TS) is a well-established model for simulating the effects of microgravity on muscles and bones, but its impact on liver function remains unclear. In the current study, we explored the regulatory mechanisms of apoptosis, autophagy, fission, and fusion in maintaining liver mitochondrial homeostasis in mice subjected to TS for 2 or 4 weeks (TS2 and TS4).

The biosynthesis of amino acid derivatives of animal origin in plants represents a promising frontier in synthetic biology, offering a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to enhancing the nutritional value of plant-based diets. This study leverages the versatile capabilities of as a transient expression system to test a synthetic modular framework for the production of creatine, carnosine, and taurine-compounds typically absent in plants but essential for human health. By designing and stacking specialized synthetic modules, we successfully redirected the plant metabolic flux toward the synthesis of these amino acid derivatives of animal origin.

The pursuit of environmental friendliness, efficiency, and durability is paramount in the realm of flame retardant textile modification. Therefore, an innovative approach was designed to develop a gallic acid-derived intumescent flame retardant (GADPP), which contained reactive (-P(=O)(ONH)) and (-P(=O)(OCHCH)) groups, facilitating functional modification of lyocell fabric. The GADPP modification effectively improved both flame retardancy and ultraviolet (UV) resistance of lyocell fabric.

Carnosine dipeptidase 1 (CNDP1), an enzyme integral to the hydrolysis of dipeptides containing histidine, plays an indispensable role in myriad physiological processes, including hydrolysis of proteins, maturation of specific biochemical functionalities within proteins, tissue regeneration, and regulation of cell cycle. However, the implications of CNDP1 in oncogenesis and its prognostic value are not yet fully elucidated. Initially, we procured the GSE40367 dataset from the Gene Expression Omnibus and established a protein-protein interaction network.

  • MgMn(OH)Cl is identified as a significant example of a kagome antiferromagnet, showing strong spin frustration characteristics similar to herbertsmithite.
  • The study involved synthesizing nanosheets of MgMn(OH)Cl and conducting low-temperature magnetic tests, which revealed two distinct antiferromagnetic transitions at around 8 K and 55 K.
  • High-pressure experiments demonstrated that at pressures over 7.8 GPa, MgMn(OH)Cl undergoes a structural phase transition due to Jahn-Teller distortions, shifting from rhombohedral to monoclinic, which was further supported by changes observed in Raman and UV-visible absorption spectra.

Microvascular invasion (MVI) is an adverse prognostic indicator of tumor recurrence after surgery for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Therefore, developing a nomogram for estimating the presence of MVI before liver resection is necessary. We retrospectively included 260 patients with pathologically confirmed HCC at the Fifth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital between January 2021 and April 2024.

  • The study investigates the interplay between HBV replication and liver inflammation in chronic hepatitis B patients.
  • Findings show a negative correlation between viral replication and liver inflammation in HBeAg-positive patients with high HBV DNA but a positive correlation in those with lower levels and in HBeAg-negative patients.
  • Statistical analyses, including regression and meta-analysis, confirm these varying relationships, suggesting different mechanisms of disease progression based on HBV DNA levels and HBeAg status.

  • Traditional polyamide composite nanofiltration membranes often struggle with high selectivity but low water permeance, prompting the need for improved designs.
  • A novel membrane was developed using a hydrophilic interlayer made of tannic acid and poly(4-styrenesulfonate) that enhances the water permeance and hydrophilicity of the membrane.
  • The resulting optimized membrane shows a high pure water flux of 22.7 L/m²/h/bar and excellent sodium sulfate rejection, suggesting a promising approach for creating efficient nanofiltration membranes.

Background And Purpose: Several previous studies have shown that skin sebum analysis can be used to diagnose Parkinson's disease (PD). The aim of this study was to develop a portable artificial intelligence olfactory-like (AIO) system based on gas chromatographic analysis of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in patient sebum and explore its application value in the diagnosis of PD.

Methods: The skin VOCs from 121 PD patients and 129 healthy controls were analyzed using the AIO system and three classic machine learning models were established, including the gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT), random forest and extreme gradient boosting, to assist the diagnosis of PD and predict its severity.
