Methods: PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched to identify eligible studies until March 2023. The diagnostic performance of US and chest radiography was assessed using sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic score, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC).
Background: There is accumulating evidence regarding the benefits of the 5-HT receptor antagonist ondansetron for the treatment of critical illness due to its potential anti-inflammatory effect. This study attempted to determine the potential targets and molecular mechanisms of ondansetron's action against critical illnesses.
Methods: A bioinformatics analysis of network pharmacology was conducted to demonstrate screening targets and the signaling pathways of ondansetron action against the most common critical illnesses such as acute kidney injury (AKI), sepsis, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Background: Soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR)/log ferritin index (sTfR Index) can be used to assess the entire spectrum of iron status, and is valuable in evaluating iron status in population studies. There is still a lack of evidence on the association between sTfR index and all-cause mortality.
Object: To explore the association between sTfR index and all-cause mortality, as well as mortality due to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer.
Background: Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) frequently occur in the intensive care unit (ICU) and are correlated with a significant burden.
Methods: We implemented a strategy involving a 9-element bundle, education, surveillance of CAUTI rates and clinical outcomes, monitoring compliance with bundle components, feedback of CAUTI rates and performance feedback. This was executed in 299 ICUs across 32 low- and middle-income countries.

Objectives: To evaluate the diagnostic value of plasma exosomal miR-223 and its combination with CA125 for the diagnosis of early-stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).
Patients And Methods: Exosomes derived from the plasma of 78 EOC patients, 40 patients with epithelial benign ovarian tumors, and 52 healthy participants were isolated using the ultracentrifugation method and identified by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and western blot.
Results: The expression of exosomal miR-223 was significantly upregulated in the plasma of EOC patients compared to that in healthy subjects and patients with benign diseases.
Context.—: Fumarate hydratase (FH)-deficient renal cell carcinoma (RCC) rarely exhibits a predominant tubulocystic architecture with few other components. RCC with pure tubules and cysts lined by eosinophilic tumor cells with prominent nucleoli would raise the diagnosis of tubulocystic RCC.

We describe a case series of bacterial infections in a tertiary care hospital due to multi-species acquisition of a VIM gene along with our experience using novel β-lactam antibiotics and antibiotic combinations to treat these infections. Four patients were treated with the combination of ceftazidime-avibactam and aztreonam, with no resistance to the combination detected.

Objective: To identify urinary catheter (UC)-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) incidence and risk factors.
Design: A prospective cohort study.
Setting: The study was conducted across 623 ICUs of 224 hospitals in 114 cities in 37 African, Asian, Eastern European, Latin American, and Middle Eastern countries.
Background: Central line (CL)-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) occurring in the intensive care unit (ICU) are common and associated with a high burden.
Methods: We implemented a multidimensional approach, incorporating an 11-element bundle, education, surveillance of CLABSI rates and clinical outcomes, monitoring compliance with bundle components, feedback of CLABSI rates and clinical outcomes, and performance feedback in 316 ICUs across 30 low- and middle-income countries. Our dependent variables were CLABSI per 1,000-CL-days and in-ICU all-cause mortality rates.
