Hyperactivity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis during chronic stress is essential for depression neurobiology. As the latest member of the RFamide peptide family in mammals, pyroglutamylated RFamide peptide (QRFP) is closely implicated in neuroendocrine maintenance by activating G-protein-coupled receptor 103 (GPR103). We hypothesized that QRFP and GPR103 might contribute to chronic stress-induced depression by promoting corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) release from neurons in the paraventricular nucleus (PVN), and various methods were employed in this study, with male C57BL/6J mice adopted as the experimental subjects.

Classifying topological phases of matter with strong interactions is a notoriously challenging task and has attracted considerable attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised machine learning approach that can classify a wide range of symmetry-protected interacting topological phases directly from the experimental observables and without a priori knowledge. We analytically show that Green's functions, which can be derived from spectral functions that can be measured directly in an experiment, are suitable for serving as the input data for our learning proposal based on the diffusion map.

We investigated the use of an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to predict the Local Bond Stress (LBS) between Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) and steel bars, in order to evaluate the accuracy of our LBS equation, proposed by Multiple Linear Regression (MLR). The experimental and numerical LBS results of specimens, based on RILEM standards and using pullout tests, were assessed by the ANN algorithm using the TensorFlow platform. Non-Hermitian topological phases bear a number of exotic properties, such as the non-Hermitian skin effect and the breakdown of conventional bulk-boundary correspondence. In this Letter, we introduce an unsupervised machine learning approach to classify non-Hermitian topological phases based on diffusion maps, which are widely used in manifold learning. We find that the non-Hermitian skin effect will pose a notable obstacle, rendering the straightforward extension of unsupervised learning approaches to topological phases for Hermitian systems ineffective in clustering non-Hermitian topological phases.

To produce high quality, glyphosate-resistant soybeans, we crossed Jinda 73 and glyphosate-resistant RR1 (Roundup Ready First Generation) (RR1) resulting in 34 hybrid strains. To determine the effects of glyphosate on soybean metabolism, we grew the two parents upto the seedling stage, and measured chlorophyll, soluble sugar, malondialdehyde (MDA), relative conductivity and proline. Reported herein is a novel iron-catalyzed, DTBP-mediated carboazidation of alkenes using cycloalkanes, CH2Cl2, CHCl3 and CCl4 as alkylating reagents to generate electrophilic or nucleophilic alkyl radicals. Mechanistic studies suggested that the reaction proceeded via the addition of alkyl radicals to alkenes followed by an iron-mediated ligand transfer process. The reaction is unique as it is applicable not only to diversely functionalized electron rich alkenes, but also to electron-poor olefins to provide chain extended azides and γ-azido chloroalkanes in good to high yields.
