Background And Study Aims: This study was aimed to validate the correlation of circular RNA HIPK3 (CircHIPK3) expression in serum and tissues with the progression of liver fibrosis (LF) and liver cirrhosis (LC).

Patients And Methods: Serum CircHIPK3 expressions were detected in 120 patients with LF/LC and 120 healthy controls (HCs). CircHIPK3 expression in tissues was detected in 120 fibrotic liver tissues and compared to 57 healthy liver tissues from patients with hepatic hemangioma.

Increasing plant diversity enhances soil organic carbon storage in typical wetlands of northern China.

Soil organic carbon plays an important role in climate change mitigation, and can be strongly affected by plant diversity. Although a positive effect of plant diversity on soil organic carbon storage has been confirmed in grasslands and forests, it remains unclear whether this effect exists in wetlands. In this study, we investigated plant diversity, soil properties and soil organic carbon across five typical wetlands of northern China, to test the effect of plant diversity on soil organic carbon and clarified the regulators.

Vigilance is a sensitive ability to respond to small changes in the environment and it is a major component of various cognitive performance tasks.Professionals in a variety of fields require high physical and vigilance performance during the working process to ensure productivity,workplace safety,and their own safety. This article reviews the research progress in vigilance in terms of the examination methods,influencing factors,and drug treatment in recent years,aiming to improve the understanding of vigilance and provide support for the research on vigilance and clinical treatment of vigilance-related dysfunctions.

Safety and efficacy of baricitinib in steroid-resistant or relapsed immune thrombocytopenia: An open-label pilot study.

Patients with steroid-resistant or relapsed immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) suffer increased bleeding risk and impaired quality of life. Baricitinib, an oral Janus-associated kinases (JAK) inhibitor, could alleviate both innate and adaptive immune disorders without inducing thrombocytopenia in several autoimmune diseases. Accordingly, an open-label, single-arm, phase 2 trial (NCT05446831) was initiated to explore the safety and efficacy of baricitinib in ITP.

Identification and Genomic Characterization of Two Novel Hepatoviruses in Shrews from Yunnan Province, China.

Hepatitis A virus (HAV), a member of the genus ( HepV), remains a significant viral pathogen, frequently causing enterically transmitted hepatitis worldwide. In this study, we conducted an epidemiological survey of HepVs carried by small terrestrial mammals in the wild in Yunnan Province, China. Utilizing HepV-specific broad-spectrum RT-PCR, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and QNome nanopore sequencing (QNS) techniques, we identified and characterized two novel HepVs provisionally named EpMa-HAV and EpLe-HAV, discovered in the long-tailed mountain shrew () and long-tailed brown-toothed shrew (), respectively.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a leading risk factor for the development and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, an accurate and convenient marker for early detection and appropriate management of CKD in individuals with T2DM is limited. Recent studies have demonstrated a strong correlation between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and CKD.

Here, we report that one such ISG, TRIM21, interacts with and degrades the TRPV2 channel in myeloid cells, reducing its expression and providing host protection against viral infections.

[Quality control mechanism of mitochondria by 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde through OGT-PINK1 pathway].

Based on the O-GlcNAc transferase(OGT)-PTEN-induced putative kinase 1(PINK1) pathway, the mechanism of 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde(DBD) on mitochondrial quality control was investigated. Middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion(MCAO/R) rats were established. SD rats were randomized into sham operation group(sham), model group(MCAO/R), DBD-L group(5 mg·kg~(-1)), and DBD-H group(10 mg·kg~(-1)).

Effect of bacillus subtilis strain Z15 secondary metabolites on immune function in mice.

Background: Previous studies have shown that secondary metabolites of Bacillus subtilis strain Z15 (BS-Z15) are effective in treating fungal infections in mice. To evaluate whether it also modulates immune function in mice to exert antifungal effects, we investigated the effect of BS-Z15 secondary metabolites on both the innate and adaptive immune functions of mice, and explored its molecular mechanism through blood transcriptome analysis.

Results: The study showed that BS-Z15 secondary metabolites increased the number of monocytes and platelets in the blood, improved natural killer (NK) cell activity and phagocytosis of monocytes-macrophages, increased the conversion rate of lymphocytes in the spleen, the number of T lymphocytes and the antibody production capacity of mice, and increased the levels of Interferon gamma (IFN-γ), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Immunoglobulin G (IgG) and Immunoglobulin M (IgM) in plasma.

[Effects of umbilical moxibustion on phobic behavior and monoamine neurotransmitters in stress-model rats].

Objective: To investigate the effects of umbilical moxibustion therapy on phobic behavior and the contents of norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in different brain regions of the stress-model rats and explore the potential mechanism of umbilical moxibustion on phobic behavior.

Methods: Among 50 Wistar male rats, 45 rates were selected and randomly divided into a control group, a model group and an umbilical moxibustion group, 15 rats in each one; and the rest 5 rats were used for preparing the model of electric shock. The bystander electroshock method was adopted to prepare phobic stress model in the model group and the umbilical moxibustion group.

Objective: Motoric cognitive risk syndrome (MCR) is a newly proposed pre-dementia syndrome. Several studies on the prevalence of MCR have been published; however, the data vary across studies with different epidemiological characteristics. Thus, this study aimed to quantitatively analyse the overall prevalence and associated epidemiological characteristics of MCR among older adults aged ≥ 60 years.

With the excessive consumption of fossil energy, technologies that transform bio-based resources into materials have received more and more attention from researchers in recent decades. In this paper, a series of poly(ethylene 2,5-tetrahydrofuran dimethyl terephthalate; PEFTs) with different components were synthesized from 2,5-tetrahydrofuran dimethanol (THFDM), terephthalic acid (TPA), and ethylene glycol (EG). Their chemical structures and compositions were determined by FTIR, H NMR, and C NMR.

Optically induced static magnetic field in the ensemble of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond.

Generation of a local magnetic field at the nanoscale is desirable for many applications such as spin-qubit-based quantum memories. However, this is a challenge due to the slow decay of static magnetic fields. Here, we demonstrate a photonic spin density (PSD)-induced effective static magnetic field for an ensemble of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in bulk diamond.

Treatment outcome and efficacy of therapeutic plasma exchange for transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy in a large real-world cohort study.

The efficacy and outcome of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) for transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (TA-TMA) remain controversial. We therefore sought to evaluate the outcome and efficacy of TPE in patients with TA-TMA and to identify TA-TMA patients who would benefit from TPE management. Eighty-two patients with TA-TMA were treated with TPE.
