Background: The escalating demographic shift towards an aging population and the widespread occurrence of immunological diseases have contributed to an elevation in the frequency of community-acquired infections. Notably, among these infections, community-acquired bloodstream infections (CABSI) stand out due to their significant lethality. Detailed medical history inquiries, assessment of underlying immune status, detection of the source of infection, and initial precise identification and treatment of the infectious agents can improve the prognosis of CABSI.

In this paper, the fluorescence quenching characteristics of Au-Ag-Pt core-shell nanorods have been studied.Due to nonradiative energy transformation, the fluorescence emission intensity of bovine serum albumin (BSA) could be greatly quenched.It has been found that the quenching effect of Au-Ag-Pt core-shell nanorods could be optimized by adjusting the concentration of chloroplatinic acid.

The present study aimed to investigate the expression pattern and underlying mechanism of microRNA-372 (miR-372) in the progression of ulcerative colitis (UC). Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to measure miR-372 expression levels in the blood and colonic mucosa tissue samples from patients with UC. The present study demonstrated that levels of miR-372 were significantly increased in the blood and colonic mucosa tissue samples from patients with UC compared with healthy controls.

Tongguan Liqiao acupuncture therapy has been shown to effectively treat dysphagia after stroke-based pseudobulbar paralysis. We presumed that this therapy would be effective for dysphagia after bulbar paralysis in patients with brainstem infarction. Sixty-four patients with dysphagia following brainstem infarction were recruited and divided into a medulla oblongata infarction group (n = 22), a midbrain and pons infarction group (n = 16), and a multiple cerebral infarction group (n = 26) according to their magnetic resonance imaging results.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of muscovite in preventing small bowel injury induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Methods: We recruited and screened thirty-two healthy volunteers who were randomly allocated equally into two groups: an NSAID control group, who received 75 mg slow-release diclofenac, twice daily for 14 d; and an NSAID-muscovite group, who received 3 g of muscovite in addition to the 75 mg of slow-release diclofenac, twice daily for 14 d. For gastroprotection, both groups were administered 20 mg/d of the proton pump inhibitor omeprazole.
