The energy resources are rich, and the ecological environment is fragile in Gansu-Qinghai regions, which are facing problems in the coordinated development of green as well as low carbon transformation and high-quality economy. Based on the reality of Gansu-Qinghai regions, this study deeply analyzed the characteristics of regional carbon emissions; constructed the system dynamics model between carbon emissions and population, economy, energy, and policy; clarified the relationship between them; and probed into the future green development path. The results showed that: ① In recent years, the total and per capita carbon emissions in Gansu-Qinghai regions have been on the rise.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), theseventh most common cancer worldwide, is characterized by a high mortality rate, advanced diagnosis, and susceptibility to extrahepatic metastasis. Numerous studies have shown that DNA methylation is a crucial factor in epigenetic modifications and regulation of carcinogenesis.

Methods: HCC patient data were sourced from the TCGA dataset as a training set, while GSE116174 was used as an external validation set for verification.

  • Post-burn anxiety and depression significantly impact the recovery and quality of life for burn patients, but there's been limited research on risk factors for these conditions.
  • A study involving 675 patients with non-mild burns aimed to develop a nomogram model to predict the risk of post-burn anxiety and depression based on various factors.
  • Key risk factors identified included being female, under 33 years old, unmarried, having a burn area of 30% or more, and burns located on the head, face, or neck, with the nomogram demonstrating high predictive accuracy for identifying patients at risk.

A pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the region-specific accumulation of the amyloid-beta protein (Aβ), which triggers aberrant neuronal excitability, synaptic impairment, and progressive cognitive decline. Previous works have demonstrated that Aβ pathology induced aberrant elevation in the levels and excessive enzymatic hydrolysis of voltage-gated sodium channel type 2 beta subunit (Navβ2) in the brain of AD models, accompanied by alteration in excitability of hippocampal neurons, synaptic deficits, and subsequently, cognitive dysfunction. However, the mechanism is unclear.

Uniparental disomy (UPD)-related imprinting disorders are a group of congenital disorders which can lead to severe birth defects. Their molecular etiology is the occurrence of UPD in the genomic imprinting regions, which may cause disturbed expression of parent-of-origin imprinted genes. With the widespread applications of genetic testing techniques, the prenatal diagnosis of UPD-related imprinted diseases has gradually become clinical routines.

Objectives: The online behavior of online users has taken on complex and diverse characteristics, and posting product reviews on e-commerce platforms is no exception. In fact, reviews contain rich and multi-dimensional discrete emotional information, and whether there is a relationship between the expression of these different discrete emotions and the time interval between product purchase and review posting as well as their related characteristics are the issues that this study needs to analyze and solve in depth.

Methods: Based on the OCC model (named after three proposers) of psychological emotional cognitive evaluation theory as the basis for emotion classification, the study used the massive amounts of Chinese reviews of mobile phones on the Chinese e-commerce platform Jingdong Mall as the research object, applied supervised machine learning methods to classify discrete emotions, and constructed a large corpus containing satisfaction, disappointment, admiration, reproach, love, and hate; then the study delved into the distribution and behavioral dynamics characteristics of consumers' comments containing the different discrete emotions at different "purchase-comment" time intervals.

Background: Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), antibacterial weapons of neutrophils (NEs), have been found to play a crucial role in cancer metastasis in recent years. More and more cancer research is focusing on anti-NETs. However, almost all anti-NETs treatments have limitations such as large side effects and limited efficacy.

Objective: To explore the genetic etiology of a child with delayed growth and development and carry out a literature review.

Methods: A child suspected for Al Kaissi syndrome at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University on March 6, 2021 was selected as the study subject. Following extraction of genomic DNA, the child was subjected to copy number variation sequencing (CNV-seq) and whole exome sequencing (WES), and candidate variants were verified by PCR-agarose gel electrophoresis and quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR).

Objective: The incidence of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is high. Though extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) has been considered a potential treatment for refractory cardiac arrest after failure of conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CCPR), the benefit of ECPR in refractory OHCA remains uncertain.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we included patients with refractory OHCA who visited the Emergency Department of the Aerospace Center Hospital between January 2018 and April 2023.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) leads to disturbed brain discharge rhythm, elevated excitability, anxiety-like behaviors, and decreased learning and memory capabilities. Cognitive dysfunctions severely affect the quality of life and prognosis of TBI patients, requiring effective rehabilitation treatment. Evidence indicates that moderate exercise after brain injury decreases TBI-induced cognitive decline.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to perform genetic testing and prenatal diagnosis for a 23-year-old woman with moderate intellectual disability (ID).
  • Blood and amniotic fluid samples were analyzed to detect genetic variations, leading to the discovery of a likely pathogenic variant in the DLG4 gene in both the mother and her fetus, as well as a deletion in the DMD gene of the fetus.
  • The findings suggest that the DLG4 gene variant may be responsible for the mother's ID, and the fetal genetic alterations could increase the risk of similar disabilities.

Voltage-gated sodium channel beta 2 (Nav2.2 or Nav2, coded by SCN2B mRNA), a gene involved in maintaining normal physiological functions of the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, might be associated with prefrontal cortex aging and memory decline. This study investigated the effects of Nav2 in amyloid- 1-42- (A1-42-) induced neural injury model and the potential underlying molecular mechanism.

, a new taxon in sect. that can strongly enhance the germination efficiency of seeds, was discovered in subtropical areas of China. As revealed by a morphological comparison with related species as well as maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian phylogenetic analyses based on sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and the large subunit (LSU) regions of nuclear ribosomal RNA, the new taxon can be distinguished from phenotypically similar and phylogenetically related species.
