Inflammatory response regulation is a mechanism through which human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUCMSCs) improve myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI); however, the timing of HUCMSC delivery to achieve maximum effectiveness is controversial. To investigate the effects of HUCMSC delivery on the acute inflammatory stage of IRI, we transplanted HUCMSCs or HUCMSCs with cyclosporin A (CsA) through the coronary artery simultaneously during ischemia reperfusion in pigs. Ferumoxytol-labeled HUCMSCs (HUCMSC), HUCMSCs with cyclosporin A (HUCMSC+CsA), and PBS (control) groups were investigated to evaluate the homing of transplanted cells and changes in infarct features, cardiac activity, and inflammatory response at three time points post-transplantation.

The effect of mesenchymal stem cell (MSCs)-based therapy on treating acute myocardial infarction (MI) is limited due to poor engraftment and limited regenerative potential. Here we engineered MSCs with integrin-linked kinase (ILK), a pleiotropic protein critically regulating cell survival, proliferation, differentiation, and angiogenesis. This study aims to investigate the effect of 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) on the metabolism in relation to development of chilling injury-induced pulp browning of eggplant fruit. The dynamic changes of snow pack as affected by global warming might have strong effects on the ecological processes in alpine forests. To understand the responses of soil ecological processes in the alpine forests of west Sichuan to the decreasing snow pack under global warming, a snow-shading experiment was conducted in a primary fir forest from October 19, 2009 to May 18, 2010, with the effects of snow pack removal on the dynamics of soil temperature, carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus investigated. The results showed that snow pack removal increased the diurnal variation amplitude of soil temperature and the frequency of freeze-thaw cycle, and advanced the time of soil frozen and melt as well as the peak time of soil dissolved carbon and nitrogen, available P, NH4(+)-N, and NO3(-)-N.
