Background: Acute non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (ANVUGIB) constitutes a prevalent emergency within Gastroenterology, encompassing 80%-90% of all gastrointestinal hemorrhage incidents. This condition is distinguished by its abrupt onset, swift progression, and notably elevated mortality rate.

Aim: To gather clinical data from patients with ANVUGIB at our hospital in order to elucidate the clinical characteristics specific to our institution and analyze the therapeutic effectiveness of endoscopic hemostasis.

Purpose: The role of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) is not fully understood.

Methods: In this retrospective analysis, we included 316 HCC patients who underwent hepatectomy and preoperative CTC detection. We selected 41 pairs of matched HCC patients with and without PVTT using propensity score matching (PSM) analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • A new compound called phomopine was isolated from a specific strain of fungus (sp. XM-01), along with five other known compounds.
  • The structure of phomopine was determined using advanced methods like spectroscopy and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations.
  • Bioassays showed that two of the compounds had strong antimicrobial effects, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 64 μg/mL and 16 μg/mL against specific microorganisms.

A chemical investigation of the endophytic fungus Diaporthe destruens from the Hernandiaceae plant Illigera orbiculata C. Y. Wu collected from southern Yunnan Province, China, led to the isolation of six undescribed compounds, including two azaphilone analogs, which are a pair of epimers (13R-hydroxy-chermesinone A and 13S-hydroxy-chermesinone A); a pyrrole derivative (1-(4-(methoxymethyl)-1H-pyrrol-3-yl)ethan-1-one); an isoindolone derivative (4-hydroxy-6-methoxyisoindolin-1-one); a benzylbenzene derivative (destruensine A) and a conjectural fragment of polyketide ((2R,4R)-2-(methoxymethyl)pentane-1,4-diol) along with nine known compounds.

Background: Hypoxia plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer, but the effect of hypoxia-related genes in pancreatic cancer remains to be elucidated. This study aimed to identify hypoxia-related genes related to pancreatic cancer and construct a prognostic signature.

Methods: Pancreatic cancer datasets were retrieved from TCGA database.

Background: Growing evidence suggests that circulating tumor cell (CTC) clusters may be an important factor in the metastatic process, but their role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. This study aimed to characterize the molecular and clinical features of CTC cluster-positive human HCC and to assess its prognostic value in HCC patients.

Methods: The CTCs and CTC clusters were evaluated in 204 HCC patients using CellSearch™ System.

The tasseled cap triangle (TCT)-leaf area index (LAI) isoline is a model that reflects the distribution of LAI isoline in the spectral space constituted by reflectance of red and near-infrared (NIR) bands, and the LAI retrieval model developed on the basis of this is more accurate than the commonly used statistical relationship models. This study used ground-based measurements of the rice field, validated the applicability of PROSAIL model in simulating canopy reflectance of rice field, and calibrated the input parameters of the model. The ranges of values of PROSAIL input parameters for simulating rice canopy reflectance were determined.

Insertion/deletion polymorphisms have become a research hot spot in forensic science due to their tremendous potential in recent years. In the present study, we investigated 30 indel loci in a Chinese Yi ethnic group. The allele frequencies of the short allele of the 30 indel loci were in the range of 0.

Objective: To summarize anesthesia management of laparoscopic radical cystectomy and orthotopic bladder surgery with a robotic surgical system.

Methods: In the study of 10 cases of bladder cancer, the robot-assisted radical cystectomy+expand lymphadenectomy+orthotopic bladder surgery with 60 degrees of Trendelenburg surgical position, was inserted into the manipulator under the video system monitor positioning, to complete the removal of the diseased tissue dissection and orthotopic ileal neobladder intra-abdominal. The respiratory parameters, hemodynamic parameters, arterial blood gas analysis were monitored and the waking time, intake and output, and intraoperative concurrent recorded.

Altered expression of forkhead box Q1 (FOXQ1) is observed in various types of human cancers. However, the clinical significance of FOXQ1 expression in gastric cancer (GC) remains largely unknown. The present study aims to explore the clinicopathological significance and prognostic value of FOXQ1 in GC.

Dioxygen complexes play important roles in organisms' bodies, so the determination of binding-dioxygen has practical significance. A simple and robust method based on headspace gas chromatography was proposed to determine the binding-dioxygen in dioxygen complexes. By measuring the content change of nitrogen gas in a vial, the amount of oxygen released from dixoygen complexes can be determined.
