Climate warming affects antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in soil and the plant microbiome, including seed endophytes. Seeds act as vectors for ARG dissemination in the soil-plant system, but the impact of elevated CO on seed resistomes remains poorly understood. Here, a free-air CO enrichment system was used to examine the impact of elevated CO on seed-associated ARGs and seed endophytic bacteria and fungi.

Functional materials with organic/inorganic composites as the main matrix and rare earth ion complexes as the guest have shown a very broad application prospect for antibiotic sensors. However, Eu-complex often relies on a single fluorescence response signal, which is susceptible to changes in the detection environment and cannot simultaneously detect and remove tetracycline (TC). Herein, green fluorescent covalent two-dimensional organic framework (COF-TD) is synthesized, followed by modification of Eu to synthesize COF-TD@Eu.

Developing rapid tetracycline sensing system is of great significance to monitor the illegal addition to drugs and pollution to food and ecosystem. By loading covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with Eu, a new hybridized material (COF@Eu) was prepared for tetracycline determination. Based on the Schiff base reaction, the COFs were by synthesized through solvent evaporation in 30 min at room temperature.

The phyllosphere is a vital yet often neglected habitat hosting diverse microorganisms with various functions. However, studies regarding how the composition and functions of the phyllosphere microbiome respond to agricultural practices, like nitrogen fertilization, are limited. This study investigated the effects of long-term nitrogen fertilization with different levels (CK, N90, N210, N330) on the functional genes and pathogens of the rice phyllosphere microbiome.

Though the evidence for antibiotic resistance spread via plant microbiome is mounting, studies regarding antibiotic resistome in the plant seed, a reproductive organ and important food resource, are still in their infancy. This study investigated the effects of long-term organic fertilization on seed bacterial endophytes, resistome, and their intergenerational transfer in the microcosm. A total of 99 antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and 26 mobile genetic elements (MGEs) were detected by high-throughput quantitative PCR.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been widely used for cancer treatment. Identification of anti-cancer targets of TCM is the first and principal step in discovering molecular mechanisms of TCM as well as obtaining novel targets for cancer therapy. In this study, glycogen phosphorylase L (PYGL) was identified as one of the targeted proteins for several TCMs and was upregulated in various cancer types.

With the development of nanotechnology, nano-pesticides have been developed and show better application effects than traditional pesticides, which have a good development prospect. Copper hydroxide nanoparticles (Cu(OH) NPs) are one of the specific fungicides. However, there is still no reliable method to evaluate their environmental processes, which is essential for the broad application of new pesticides.

We aimed to explore whether superfluous sympathetic activity affects myoblast differentiation, fusion, and myofiber types using a continuous single-dose isoprenaline exposure model in vitro and to further confirm the role of distinct NFATs in ISO-mediated effects. Compared with delivery of single and interval single, continuous single-dose ISO most obviously diminished myotube size while postponing myoblast differentiation/fusion in a time- and dose-dependent pattern, accompanied by an apparent decrease in nuclear NFATc1/c2 levels and a slight increase in nuclear NFATc3/c4 levels. Overexpression of NFATc1 or NFATc2, particularly NFATc1, markedly abolished the inhibitory effects of ISO on myoblast differentiation/fusion, myotube size and Myh7 expression, which was attributed to a remarkable increase in the nuclear NFATc1/c2 levels and a reduction in the nuclear NFATc4 levels and the associated increase in the numbers of MyoG and MEF2C positive nuclei within more than 3 nuclei myotubes, especially in MEF2C.

Gastric cancer is one of the common malignant tumors in the world, which originates from the gene mutation of human cells. In this work, an atomic force microscope was used to quantitatively detect the changes of multiple physical parameters such as the cell morphology, surface roughness, elasticity modulus and adhesion force before and after Phellinus linteus stimulation. The experimental results show that Phellinus linteus can change the shape of gastric cancer cells (SGC-7901) from flat to spherical, and increase their height and surface roughness values.

Background: Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a syndrome of immune hyperactivation and abnormal regulation that causes life-threatening inflammation, is mainly characterized by fever, hepatosplenomegaly, cytopenia, and other symptoms. Reactive HLH (rHLH) is typically secondary to immune deregulation caused by underlying rheumatologic, infectious, or malignant conditions. Malignancy-associated HLH (M-HLH) continues to be a critical health problem worldwide.

Due to the complexity of the environmental matrix and the limitation of the detection level, it is important to use models to evaluate environmental exposure to nanomaterials. Based on this, this research established two multi-media fate and transport models of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with respective coarse and fine spatial resolutions. Using the case of the spatial distribution of AgNPs in the Xiangjiang River, China, we compared how the spatial resolution of a model impacts modeling results.

In recent years, the developmental origins of diseases have been increasingly recognized and accepted. As such, it has been suggested that most adulthood chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and even tumors may develop at a very early stage. In addition to intrauterine environmental exposure, germ cells carry an important inheritance role as the primary link between the two generations.

Nervus intermedius neuralgia (NIN), known as geniculate neuralgia (GN), is an uncommon cranial nerve disease caused by an offending vessel compressing the nervus intermedius (NI). Microvascular decompression (MVD) has now become a valued treatment approach for NIN because it can resolve neurovascular conflict (NVC) at the root entry zone of the NI. In the era of continuously optimizing and improving the surgical technique of MVD, further minimization of all possible postoperative complications is not only welcome but also necessary.

  • The study investigates the role of the PYGL gene, associated with glycogen breakdown, in gliomas, revealing that its high expression correlates with tumor malignancy and poor patient prognosis.
  • Using comprehensive bioinformatics analysis of data from 595 glioma patients and 7,930 GBM cells, researchers found that high PYGL levels are linked to worse outcomes and significant biological pathways such as MTORC1 signaling and angiogenesis.
  • The results indicate that PYGL expression can serve as an independent prognostic marker for glioma patients, with strong predictive accuracy as shown through ROC analysis and C-index values.
