Traditional Chinese medicine formulae: A complementary method for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent female endocrine condition that significantly affects women of all age groups and is characterized by metabolic dysfunction. The efficacy of existing pharmaceutical interventions for the treatment of PCOS remains inadequate. With a rich history and cultural significance spanning thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is extensively employed for treating a variety of ailments and can serve as a supplementary therapy for managing PCOS.

Efficient Pyrazolo[5,4-f]quinoxaline Functionalized Os(II) Based Emitter with an Electroluminescence Peak Maximum at 811 nm.

Upon fusing the pyrazinyl pyrazole entity in giving pyrazolo[3,4-f]quinoxaline chelate, the corresponding Os(II) based NIR emitter exhibited "invisible" and efficient electroluminescence with a peak maximum at 811 nm. A maximum external quantum efficiency of 0.97 % and a suppressed efficiency roll-off till a current density of 300 mA cm was also exhibited.

Near-Infrared Emission Induced by Shortened Pt-Pt Contact: Diplatinum(II) Complexes with Pyridyl Pyrimidinato Cyclometalates.

Four diplatinum(II) complexes with the formula [Pt(pypm)(μ-F)] (, -) bearing both a pyridine-pyrimidinate chelate and formamidinate bridge, where (pypm)H and FH stand for 5-(pyridin-2-yl)-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine and functional formamidines with various substituents of Pr ( = 1), Ph ( = 2), CHBu ( = 3), and CHCF ( = 4), were synthesized en route from a mononuclear intermediate represented by [Pt(pypm)Cl(FH)] (). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies confirmed the structure of and comprised of an individual "Pt(pypm)" unit and two "Pt(pypm)" units with a Pt···Pt distance of 2.8845(2) Å, respectively.

EVALUATION OF EFFECTIVENESS IN A NOVEL WOUND HEALING OINTMENT-CROCODILE OIL BURN OINTMENT.

Background: Crocodile oil and its products are used as ointments for burns and scalds in traditional medicines. A new ointment formulation - crocodile oil burn ointment (COBO) was developed to provide more efficient wound healing activity. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the burn healing efficacy of this new formulation by employing deep second-degree burns in a Wistar rat model.

Blood pressure change during phacoemulsification and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.

Aim: To evaluate blood pressure (BP) changes during phacoemulsification (PC) and femtosecond laser (FSL)-assisted cataract surgery.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed for all patients who received traditional phacoemulsification surgery (PC group) and FSL-assisted cataract surgery (FS group) from July 2013 to December 2014. Totally 206 eyes from 133 patients receiving the two types of procedures were included.

Neuroanatomical differences between men and women in help-seeking coping strategy.

Help seeking (HS) is a core coping strategy that is directed towards obtaining support, advice, or assistance as means of managing stress. Women have been found to use more HS than men. Neural correlates of sex differences have also been reported in prefrontal-limbic system (PLS) regions that are linked to stress and coping, yet structural differences between men and women relating to HS in the PLS are still unknown.

Self-disclosure is an important performance in human social communication. Generally, an individual is likely to have a good physical and mental health if he is prone to self-disclosure under stressful life events. However, as for now, little is known about the neural structure associated with self-disclosure.

The correlation between gray matter volume and perceived social support: a voxel-based morphometry study.

Social support refers to interpersonal exchanges that include the combinations of aid, affirmation and affection. Perceived social support is a kind of subjective judgment of one's availability of social support. In spite of the importance of perceived social support to health, however, its neural substrate remains unknown.

The time course of breaking mental sets and forming novel associations in insight-like problem solving: an ERP investigation.

In the present study, high-density event-related potentials were recorded to examine the electrophysiological correlates of logogriph problem solving in using a new experimental paradigm (learning-testing model) that was adopted in order to enable subjects to find a solution on their own initiative. For each trial, subjects were given a target logogriph followed by three types of base logogriphs: surface similarity logogriphs (SUSL, the base logogriph and target logogriph share some same words), structural similarity logogriphs (STSL, the base and target logogriphs do not have any words in common), and baseline logogriphs (BSL, the base and target logogriphs are all simple character-generation tasks). The results demonstrated a more negative event-related potential deflection during STSL than during SUSL in both the 300-500 and 1,100-1,300 ms time windows, most likely reflecting the breaking of mental sets during insight-like problem solving.

[Grassland net primary productivity and its spatiotemporal distribution in northern Tibet: a study with CASA model].

Based on the remote sensing data, meteorological data and other related data from 1981 to 2004, the grassland net primary productivity (NPP) and its spatiotemporal distribution in Northern Tibet were analyzed by CASA (Carnegie-Ames-Stanford Approach) model. The results indicated that in the study area, the spatial distribution of grassland NPP was affected by the local water and heat conditions, and represented a horizontal zonality. From southeast to northwest, the grassland NPP reduced from 230 g C x m(-2) x a(-1) to near 0 g C x m(-2) x a(-1).
