Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of using the Pringle maneuver with a bulldog clamp during laparoscopic liver resection.
  • 80 patients were randomly assigned to either the intraperitoneal (IPM) or extraperitoneal (EPM) Pringle maneuver groups, measuring various preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative liver function indices.
  • Results showed that IPM had a shorter blocking and operation time, lower inflammatory response, less liver function injury, and quicker recovery compared to EPM, making it a safe and effective technique.

Purpose: To develop and evaluate the performance of radiomics-based computed tomography (CT) combined with machine learning algorithms in detecting occult vertebral fractures (OVFs).

Materials And Methods: 128 vertebrae including 64 with OVF confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging and 64 corresponding control vertebrae from 57 patients who underwent chest/abdominal CT scans, were included. The CT radiomics features on mid-axial and mid-sagittal plane of each vertebra were extracted.

Although ovarian cancer usually responds well to platinum- and taxane-based first-line chemotherapy, most patients develop recurrence and chemoresistance. Regenerating gene 4 (REG4) is a secretory protein involved in cell differentiation and proliferation. We found higher REG4 expression in ovarian cancer than in normal tissues ( < .

Aim: Large tumor suppressor gene 1 (LATS1) belongs to the PKA/PKG/PKC serine/threonine kinase subfamily of the Hippo signaling pathway and inactivates nuclear co-activators YAP1 and WWTR1 by phosphorylation. This study aimed to discern the clinicopathological and prognostic significances of LATS1 expression in breast cancer.

Methods: We examined LATS1 expression in breast carcinogenesis and compared it with clinicopathological parameters and survival information of breast cancer patients using immunohistochemistry, western blotting, RT-PCR, and bioinformatics analysis.

Heavy metal pollution of soil is a significant environmental problem with a negative potential impact on human health and agriculture. Rhizosphere, as an important interface of soil and plants, plays a significant role in phytoremediation of contaminated soil by heavy metals, in which, microbial populations are known to affect heavy metal mobility and availability to the plant through release of chelating agents, acidification, phosphate solubilization and redox changes, and therefore, have potential to enhance phytoremediation processes. Phytoremediation strategies with appropriate heavy metal-adapted rhizobacteria or mycorrhizas have received more and more attention.
