The biological role of B7-H1 intrinsic signal is reportedly diverse and controversial, its signal pathway remains unclear. Although B7-H1 blocking antibodies were found to have agonist capacity, their binding features and agonist mechanisms need further investigation. Here, by constructing cell strains with full-length or truncated B7-H1, we found that B7-H1 functioned as a receptor to transmit cell death signal from PD-1 protein or anti-B7-H1s through its cytoplasmic domain.

The recurrence rate for severe intrauterine adhesions is as high as 60%, and there is still lack of effective prevention and treatment. Inspired by the nature of uterus, we have developed a bilayer scaffold (ECM-SPS) with biomimetic heterogeneous features and extracellular matrix (ECM) microenvironment of the uterus. As proved by subtotal uterine reconstruction experiments, the mechanical and antiadhesion properties of the bilayer scaffold could meet the requirement for uterine repair.

This study investigated the effect of guarana on plasma lipid metabolites in obese rats and analyzed its mechanism in the treatment of dyslipidemia in obesity. High-fat diet was used to establish obese rat models, and the therapeutic effect of guarana on obese rats was evaluated by measuring body weight, white fat, liver weight, and lipid content, as well as observing liver histomorphology. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for gastrointestinal tumors and premalignant lesions needs submucosal fluid cushion (SFC) for mucosal uplift before dissection, and wound care including wound closure and rapid healing postoperatively. Current SFC materials as well as materials and/or methods for post-ESD wound care have single treatment effect and hold corresponding drawbacks, such as easy dispersion, short duration, weak hemostasis and insufficient repair function. Nucleus pulposus (NP) cells play a critical role in maintaining intervertebral disc integrity through producing the components of extracellular matrix (ECM). NP cell dysfunction, including senescence and hyper-apoptosis, has been regarded as critical events during intervertebral disc degeneration development. In the present study, we found that Transcription Factor 7-Like 2 (TCF7L2) was overexpressed within degenerative intervertebral disc tissue samples, and TCF7L2 silencing improved lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced repression on NP cell proliferation, ECM synthesis, and LPS-induced NP cell senescence.

Phosphatidic acid (PA) is an important lipid essential for several aspects of plant development and biotic and abiotic stress responses. We previously suggested that submergence induces PA accumulation in Arabidopsis thaliana; however, the molecular mechanism underlying PA-mediated regulation of submergence-induced hypoxia signaling remains unknown. Here, we showed that in Arabidopsis, loss of the phospholipase D (PLD) proteins PLDα1 and PLDδ leads to hypersensitivity to hypoxia, but increased tolerance to submergence.
