Recurrent green tides have been recorded in the Yellow Sea for 11 consecutive years. The origin of floating green algae in the Yellow Sea, however, remains a subject of debate. Previous studies suggest that the major bloom-forming green alga Ulva prolifera represent a unique ecotype different from other attached populations of U.

Abstract XPS analysis provides qualitative, quantitative and chemical state information for surface elements of solid materials. Therefore, XPS is widely applied in the characterization of refining catalyst. In the present paper, the applications of XPS in the field of typical refining catalysts, including hydrogenation catalyst, S Zorb sorbent and rare-earth modified Y zeolite, are illustrated and exemplified.

Thiourea-modified cinchona alkaloids as bifunctional catalysts and a base could catalyze a stepwise [5+1] cyclization of divinyl ketones with nitromethane via double Michael additions, furnishing optically active 4-nitro-cyclohexanones with good yields, excellent diastereoselectivities (>20 : 1) and high enantiomeric ratios (up to 97 : 3).

Aim: Now many countries have developed cancer therapy with heavy ions, especially in GSI (Gesellschaft f r Schwerionenforschung mbH, Darmstadt, Germany), remarkable results have obtained, but due to the complexity of particle track structure, the basic theory still needs further researching. In this paper, the genotoxic effects of heavy ions irradiation on SMMC-7721 cells were measured using the single cell gel electrophoresis (comet assay). The information about the DNA damage made by other radiations such as X-ray, gamma-ray, UV and fast neutron irradiation is very plentiful, while little work have been done on the heavy ions so far.
