The GATIS score, developed by Zeng , represents a significant advancement in predicting the prognosis of patients with rectal neuroendocrine neoplasms (R-NENs). This study, which included 1408 patients from 17 major medical centres in China over 12 years, introduces a novel prognostic model based on the tumour grade, T stage, tumour size, age, and the prognostic nutritional index. Compared with traditional methods such as the World Health Organization classification and TNM staging systems, the GATIS score has superior predictive power for overall survival and progression-free survival.

Background Microwave ablation (MWA) is currently under preliminary investigation for the treatment of multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and has shown promising treatment efficacy. Compared with surgical resection (SR), MWA is minimally invasive and could preserve thyroid function. However, a comparative analysis between MWA and SR is warranted to draw definitive conclusions.

Introduction: Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against cytokines and chemokines or their receptors promise to be a potential therapeutic option to address chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We aim to provide a comprehensive literature review of the improvement in FEV1 and safety when comparing mAbs with conventional dichotomous agents.

Methods: We systematically searched 3 electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, and CENTRAL) up to August 1, 2023 to collect eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Background: The Makorin ring finger protein 1 (MKRN1) gene, also called RNF61, is located on the long arm of chromosome 7 and is a member of the RING finger protein family. The E3 ubiquitin ligase MKRN1 is closely linked to tumour development, but the exact mechanism needs to be elucidated. In this study, we aimed to investigate the specific mechanism and role of MKRN1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) development.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the safety and efficacy of microwave ablation (MWA) in patients with multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma (M-PTC) compared to those with unifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma (U-PTC), using data from 504 patients over five years.
  • Results showed that while the complete ablation was achieved in all cases, the tumour disappearance rate was significantly lower and slower for M-PTC patients compared to U-PTC, but the overall safety and complication rates were comparable between the two groups.
  • In conclusion, MWA is an effective and safe treatment for selected M-PTC patients, with clinical outcomes similar to those with U-PTC

Relapsed or refractory (r/r) mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive B-cell malignancy with a poor prognosis. Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) is a mediator of B-cell receptor signaling and is associated with the development of B-cell lymphomas. Patients with r/r MCL were enrolled in this phase 1/2 study and treated with orelabrutinib, a novel, highly selective BTK inhibitor.

An easily prepared fluoro-functionalized ionic covalent organic framework (F-iCOF) has been implemented into MALDI-TOF MS, enabling the highly selective enrichment and sensitive determination of perfluorinated sulfonate (PFS) contaminants in a rapid and convenient manner. The good thermal stability and excellent optical absorption properties of F-iCOF makes it a brilliant matrix with no background noise. Moreover, benefitting from the large surface area, appropriate pore size, good water dispersibility, and abundant fluorine atom and cationic characteristic of F-iCOF, it exhibited superior adsorption capacity and enrichment selectivity towards PFSs.

Missed Monteggia fractures in children may cause pain, deformity, decreased range of motion, neurological symptoms, and late arthritis of the elbow. Numerous surgical techniques have been advocated to reconstruct missed Monteggia lesions. The purpose of the present study were first to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes after open reduction of the radial head and corrective osteotomy of the ulna, second to identify the factors associated with the preoperative radial notch/head appearance and the postoperative radiographic results.

Coral-like Ag-MoC/C-I and blocky Ag-MoC/C-II composites were obtained from one-step in situ calcination of [Ag(HL)(MoO)]·nHO [L: N-(pyridin-3-ylmethyl) pyridine-2-amine] under N/H and N atmospheres, respectively. The coral-like morphology of Ag-MoC/C-I is composed of interwoven nanorods embedded with small particles, and the nano-aggregate of Ag-MoC/C-II is formed by cross-linkage of irregular nanoparticles. The above composites are decorated on glassy carbon electrode (GCE) drop by drop to generate two enzyme-free electrochemical sensors (Ag-MoC/C/GCE) for amperometric detection of HO.
