Prognostic value of serum amyloid A in patients with COVID-19.

Objective: To investigate the prognostic value of serum amyloid A (SAA) in the patients with Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Methods: The medical data of 89 COVID-19 patients admitted to Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from January 3, 2020 to February 26, 2020 were collected. Eighty-nine cases were divided into survival group (53 cases) and non-survival group (36 cases) according to the results of 28-day follow-up.

Ca-based allosteric switches and shape shifting in RGLG1 VWA domain.

RGLG1 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase in that participates in ABA signaling and regulates apical dominance. Here, we present crystal structures of RGLG1 VWA domain, revealing two novel calcium ions binding sites (NCBS1 and NCBS2). Furthermore, the structures with guided mutagenesis in NCBS1 prove that Ca ions play important roles in controlling conformational change of VWA, which is stabilized in open state with Ca bound and converted to closed state after Ca removal.

Expression of cytokines in mouse hepatitis B virus X gene-transfected model.

The expression profile in the mouse hepatitis B virus X (HBx)-transfected model was investigated in order to lay a foundation for further study on the implication of cytokines expression in hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Hydrodynamic injection method via the tail vein was used to establish the animal HBx-transfected model. By using microassay, the differential expression of gene in each group was analyzed, which was further confirmed by using real-time PCR and semi-quantitative PCR.

This two-phase cell adhesion suggests a unique molecular basis for the dynamic interaction of α4β7 with its ligand, mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule 1 (MAdCAM-1). Interferon-gamma inducible protein 10 (IP-10) involves inflammatory cell recruitment and cellular immune damage during virus infection. Although an increase of the peripheral IP-10 level is known in HBV-infected patients, the molecular basis of HBV infection inducing IP-10 expression has remained elusive. In the present study, we demonstrate that hepatitis B virus protein X (HBx) increases IP-10 expression in a dose-dependent manner.

[Clinical value of serum CA19-9, CA125 and CP2 in mucinous ovarian tumor: a retrospective study of 273 patients].

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of serum CA19-9, CA125 and CP2 in mucinous ovarian tumors.

Methods: In this retrospective study, the serum CA19-9, CA125 and CP2 levels of 273 hospitalized patients with ovarian tumors of either mucinous or non-mucinous type were analyzed.

Results: (1) CA19-9 had the biggest area under curve (AUC) in mucinous tumors followed with CA125 while CA125 and CP2 had bigger AUC in non-mucinous tumor.
