Article Synopsis
  • Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious complication in cancer patients, and this study aimed to improve its diagnosis and treatment by using a range of blood markers associated with clotting and fibrinolysis.
  • The research involved 870 cancer patients, 82 of whom had VTE, and it utilized advanced laboratory techniques to measure various biomarkers and analyze their diagnostic and prognostic significance.
  • Results showed that patients with cancer had elevated levels of these markers compared to healthy individuals, and higher levels were linked to shorter survival times, with certain biomarkers indicating a worse prognosis; VTE incidence was reduced in patients receiving low-molecular-weight heparin treatment.
