Article Synopsis
  • * In a study using the forced swimming test (FST), mice that underwent long-term intermittent fasting showed significantly more active stress coping behaviors compared to non-fasting control mice, whereas acute fasting had no similar impact.
  • * The research highlights that intermittent fasting affects the NE release in the locus coeruleus-medial prefrontal cortex (LC-mPFC) pathway, with increased activity in this area being linked to enhanced coping behaviors, suggesting potential targets for treating stress-related mental health issues.

Article Synopsis
  • The endocannabinoid system is a crucial biological network that regulates various bodily functions like pain, emotion, and memory through receptors like CB1 and CB2.
  • These receptors are significant in pain regulation and are being studied in relation to acupuncture's pain-relieving effects.
  • The paper reviews how acupuncture activates CB1 and CB2 receptors in different animal pain models (like inflammatory and neuropathic pain) to explore the mechanisms behind its analgesic properties.

The paper presents professor 's experience in treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) with "sinew-bone three needling technique" of Chinese medicine. Based on the theory of meridian sinew, the points are located by "three-pass method" in terms of the distribution of meridian sinew and syndrome/pattern differentiation. The cord-like muscles and adhesion are relieved by relaxing technique to work directly on the affected sites and alleviate the local compression to the nerve root.

The paper introduces the theory and the clinical application of "three regions, nine needles and twelve methods" summarized by professor . On the basis of traditional nine needles and in association with needling technique handed down from family generations, innovated "three regions, nine needles and twelve methods". According to the treating location and anatomical structure, the needling techniques are classified in terms of three regions, i.

The clinical experience of 's three-clear method by stages for herpes zoster on the head and face is summarized. The strong-clear method (blood-letting therapy) combined with mild-clear method (acupuncture with filiform needle) are applied for the acute pain period and subacute pain period of herpes zoster on the head and face. For acute pain period, the bleeding volume should be large (more than 10 mL), and treatment is given once every other day; for the subacute pain period, the bleeding volume should be 5-10 mL, and treatment is given 2-3 times a week.

Objective: To observe the short-term and long-term effects of moxibustion on plaque psoriasis of blood stasis, and to compare the curative effect between moxibustion and calcipotriol ointment.

Methods: A total of 80 patients with plaque psoriasis of blood stasis were randomly divided into an observation group (40 cases, 2 cases dropped off) and a control group (40 cases, 4 cases dropped off). Both groups were given routine medical vaseline topical emollient basic treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the outcomes of using open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) combined with transarticular external fixation (TEF) for treating SER IV E ankle fractures, specifically without repairing the deltoid ligament.
  • A cohort of 22 patients (13 males, 9 females) with an average age of 38.9 years was examined, consisting of various injury causes; the average hospital stay was 9.8 days, and imaging procedures were performed preoperatively and during follow-ups.
  • Follow-up at 24-63 months showed no cases of nonunion, minor complications, and significant improvements in AOFAS, SF-36, and VAS scores, indicating favorable healing outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the effects of using a reconstruction plate and bioabsorbable screws to treat Pipkin type IV femoral head fractures in 21 patients over 36-76 months.
  • All patients healed without significant complications, and the majority achieved good to excellent hip function post-surgery, with 76.1% showing favorable outcomes according to the Thompson-Epstein scoring scale.
  • The findings suggest that this surgical method provides effective treatment for this type of fracture, supporting its use in clinical practice.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze how different surface treatments impact the bonding strength between metal and ceramic materials.
  • Four groups of metal specimens were treated with various processes and tested for bond strength using standardized methods, revealing significant differences in their bonding capabilities.
  • The strongest bond was found in specimens treated with 250μm Al2O3 followed by degassing, while other treatments showed lower bond strengths with no diffusion of elements between the metal and ceramic layers.

Statement Of Problem: The creation of high bond strength between machined computer-manufactured pure titanium and porcelain remains a problem. However, machined titanium does not form the thick titanium oxide film found in cast titanium.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different preoxidation treatments on the bond strength of a machined pure titanium ceramic system.

Aim: To evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD) and primary tolerability of an anti-CD11a monoclonal antibody (CMAB001) in Chinese healthy volunteers and psoriatic patients.

Methods: Two open-label studies were conducted. One was a parallel-group, single-center, dose-escalation test, including 24 healthy adult volunteers from 18 to 45 years in age.

Purpose: To investigate and compare the effect of different heat treatment on the metal- ceramic bonding strength and the interfacial microstructure of the Co-Cr alloy.

Methods: Thirty specimens were made according to ISO 9693,and then divided into 3 groups (n=10) through the measurements .Group A(degassed 60s):degassed and then maintained 60s in 980 degrees centigrade Group B(degassed 60s and preoxidation 60s): degassed and maintained 60s in 980 degrees centigrade, then were maintained continuously for 60s in 980 degrees centigrade after re-gassed,Group C(degassed 120s): degassed and maintained 120s in 980 degrees centigrade.

Background And Objective: iASPP, an inhibitory member of the apoptosis-stimulating proteins of p53 (ASPP) family, has been found to be up-regulated in various human tumor types. This study was to construct an efficient doxycycline-regulated, lentiviral vector-mediated knockdown system for iASPP that will allow for inducible down-regulation of iASPP gene expression and preliminary functional analysis.

Methods: A pair of complementary oligos with hairpin structures targeting the iASPP gene and a negative control were synthesized, then ligated with pLVTHM vector and sequenced.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the pharmacokinetics of a CTLA4Ig fusion protein in both healthy volunteers and rheumatoid arthritis patients.
  • Two phase I clinical trials were conducted, one involving healthy volunteers receiving varying doses and the other with RA patients receiving a fixed dose over several weeks.
  • Results indicated that CTLA4Ig was well tolerated, showed linear pharmacokinetics in healthy subjects, and similar rates were observed in RA patients, with no significant drug accumulation after repeated doses.
