Histone lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1) is overexpressed in various solid and hematological tumors, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target, but there are currently no LSD1 inhibitors available on the market. In this study we employed a computer-guided approach to identify novel LSD1/EGFR dual inhibitors as a potential therapeutic agent for non-small cell lung cancer. Through a multi-stage virtual screening approach, we found L-1 and L-6, two compounds with unique scaffolds that effectively inhibit LSD1 with IC values of 6.

In order to adjust and detect micro-nano periodic structure optical surface accurately and efficiently, the problem of composite scattering between micro-ellipsoidal periodic structure optical surface and pore defects is studied use the multi-resolution time domain (MRTD) approach. A calculation model is established for the intensity distribution of composite scattering, which is modulated by the micro-ellipsoidal periodic structure optical surface and microdefects. Results are in good agreement with those obtained using CST Microwave Studio software and the finite-different time-domain (FDTD) approach, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the calculation model and method.

Article Synopsis
  • Platelets are important in the immune response and inflammation, with their role in diseases like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) being the focus of this study.
  • A Mendelian randomization study using data from the UK Biobank and FinnGen database was conducted to investigate the relationship between various platelet indices and IBD.
  • Results showed significant connections between platelet count and plateletcrit with IBD and Crohn's disease, while platelet distribution width was specifically linked to ulcerative colitis, highlighting the influence of platelet indicators on these conditions.

Background: Cerebral blood flow and vascular structures serve as the fundamental components of brain metabolism and circulation. Acupuncture, an alternative and complementary medical approach, has demonstrated efficacy in treating cerebral ischemic stroke (CIS). Nevertheless, the mechanisms underlying the impact of acupuncture on vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) function remain uncertain.

Article Synopsis
  • * Analyzed six cases using a high-pressure injection technique to obtain coronary images, comparing PMCTA results with traditional autopsy findings.
  • * Found a high diagnostic agreement (83.3%) between PMCTA and conventional autopsy, confirming PMCTA's value as a supplementary diagnostic tool in sudden cardiac death cases.

Juvenile polyps(JP),also known as retention polyps, are the most common type of colorectal polyps and the main cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding in children, with rare incidence in adults. In recent years, with the development and application of electronic colonoscopy, the detection rate of colorectal JP has gradually increased. It is generally accepted that JP is a benign hamartomatous lesion of the intestine, while it can cause complications such as massive hemorrhage of the lower digestive tract, anemia, intussusception, and intestinal obstruction.

This study sought to evaluate the impact of the subcutaneous tunneling technique on peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) placement. We randomized 694 patients who needed PICC placement to either the tunneled PICCs (experimental group) or the non-tunneled PICCs (control group) from August to December 2021. The cumulative frequency of complications was assessed as the primary outcome.

Recently, the problem of water pollution, caused by antibiotics, is becoming more and more serious. Photocatalysis is one of the promising technologies for removing antibiotics from water. Herein, the InS/TiC composites were prepared by an in-situ hydrothermal growth method for photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline (TC).

Red blood cell (RBC) transfusion is one of the most frequently performed clinical procedures and therapies to improve tissue oxygen delivery in hospitalized patients worldwide. Generally, the cross-match is the mandatory test in place to meet the clinical needs of RBC transfusion by examining donor-recipient compatibility with antigens and antibodies of blood groups. Blood groups are usually an individual's combination of antigens on the surface of RBCs, typically of the ABO blood group system and the RH blood group system.

In this paper, we investigated the impact of the linewidth of a QCW pulsed sodium laser on the brightness performance of a generating sodium laser guide star by using the numerical simulation tool PRS. We compared the field test results with the simulation results for two TIPC's 30W class sodium guide star lasers and found the results are in good agreement which proves the tool can be used for prediction. Then, we used the tool to study the influence of D2b repumping and different linewidths from 10MHz to 1GHz on the coupling efficiency and the photon return flux.

Background: Shenque (CV8) acupoint is located on the navel and has been therapeutically used for more than 2000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). However, clinical research on the underlying therapeutic molecular mechanisms of the CV8 acupoint lags far behind. This study aimed to study the mechanisms of umbilical acupoint therapy by using stem cells.

Postharvest strawberry is susceptible to gray mold disease caused by , which seriously damage the storage capacity of fruits. Biological control has been implicated as an effective and safe method to suppress plant disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate the postharvest disease control ability of AR156 and explore the response of strawberry fruit to this biocontrol microorganism.

Background: Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as potential biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases. However, few studies have focused on the role of exosomal miRNAs in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The purpose of this study was to explore weather serum exosomal microRNA-146a (exo-miR-146a) could be used as a novel diagnostic biomarker for ACS and to investigate its relationship with inflammatory response.

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a common autoimmune liver disease manifested by the infiltration of CD4 T cells, and the subsequent targeted injury of biliary epithelial cells (BECs). As important components of CD4 subsets, the Treg/Th17 axis maintains an immunological balance between self-tolerance and inflammation in the liver microenvironment. However, the role and regulatory mechanism of the Treg/Th17 axis in PBC remain unclear.

Background: The ophthalmic artery (OA) was first reconstructed using computer software. The structural differences of ophthalmic arteries in non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and normal eyes, in addition to hemodynamic alterations, were assessed.

Methods: Thirty-one NAION eyes, 19 uninvolved eyes with NAION, and a control group of 26 healthy eyes were retrospectively included.

Studies have shown that the relative sliding speed of the silicon-based material surface has an effect on its friction behavior. In this study, the molecular dynamics method was used to simulate the sliding of the SiO surface at different speeds. This is to explore the internal mechanism between SiO surface friction behavior and the relative sliding speed.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area presents the highest number of electroplating corporations in China; some of them of very large scale. Electroplating emissions are the cause of widespread heavy metal contamination of both soil and groundwater in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Hence, the reuse of electroplating sites in this area should be preceded by an analysis of heavy metal characteristics and migration in the soil and groundwater.
