Background: Unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) presents significant treatment challenges. While locoregional therapies (LT) and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) offer some benefits, prognosis remains poor. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have shown promise in other oncological settings, suggesting potential benefits in HCC treatment regimens.

Foam cells have been frequently used in studies related to atherosclerosis. Traditional methods for inducing oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) involve copper ion (Cu) treatment, which has inherent limitations such as prolonged oxidation times and residual copper ions. This study explored high-frequency ultrasound (400 kHz) as an alternative method for LDL oxidization.

Biological age is an important measure of aging that reflects an individual's physical health and is linked to various diseases. Current prediction models are still limited in precision, and the risk factors for accelerated aging remain underexplored. Therefore, we aimed to develop a precise biological age and assess the impact of socio-demographic and behavioral patterns on the aging process.

Composite solid electrolytes (CSEs) have exhibited considerable promise in the advancement of solid-state lithium batteries, attributed to their inherent safety, straightforward manufacturing processes, and flexibility. Nevertheless, the practical applications of CSEs are constrained by their low ionic conductivity and insufficient interfacial compatibility. Herein, we proposed a strategy for modulating Li conduction and interfacial compatibility by incorporating Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide/Lithium bis(oxalate)borate (LiTFSI/LiBOB) dual salts in polyacrylonitrile-based CSE.

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between retinal layer thickness and cognitive function in elderly Chinese, accounting for the influence of axial length.

Methods: The participants of the Beijing Eye Study 2011 which is a population-based cross-sectional study without any retinal or optic nerve disease underwent a series of ocular examinations including spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the retina. Using a multiple-surface OCT segmentation algorithm, the retina was automatically segmented into 9 layers.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical effect of 3D printing double positioning crown extension guide combined with 3D printing temporary crown in red aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth.

Methods: Twenty patients (70 teeth in total) who needed aesthetic restoration were randomly divided into 3D printing group (9 cases, 36 teeth) and traditional restoration group (11 cases, 34 teeth). The 3D printing team performed digital design, 3D printing double positioning crown lengthening guide to help crown lengthening operation, and 3D printed temporary crown was used after operation.

Background: Psychosocial maladjustment threatens the recovery of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), and early identification of patients with psychosocial maladjustment may facilitate provision of reference to targeted interventions. The aims of this study were to: (1) identify key factors influencing patient psychosocial maladjustment, and (2) develop a machine learning predictive model based on Stacked Generalization.

Methods: Young and middle-aged patients with AMI (n = 734) were recruited from two tertiary hospitals (Center I and Center II) in Guangdong Province.

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic liver disease and its prevalence has risen sharply. However, whether nutrition, dietary strategies, exercise, lifestyle and environment have preventive value for NAFLD remains unclear.

Methods: Through searching 4 databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Embase and the Cochrane Library) from inception to January 2025, we selected studies about nutrition, dietary strategies, exercise, lifestyle and environment in the prevention of NAFLD and conducted a narrative review on this topic.

The application of apoptotic extracellular vesicles (ApoEVs) derived from stem cell in skin wound healing has garnered significant attention. In recent decades, scholars have shown that extracellular vesicles (EVs) established intercellular communication by carrying proteins or microRNAs, the role of lipids in EVs in wound healing has yet to be clarified. Here, we focus on the key role of group X secretory phospholipase A (sPLA-X) in lipid metabolism.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most widespread malignant bone tissue tumors. However, its early diagnosis is difficult, leading to poor prognoses. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) can serve as a molecular marker for the early diagnosis and treatment of OS.

Vascular dementia (VD) is the second leading cause of cognitive impairment after Alzheimer's disease, posing a heavy burden to families and society. The majority of causes of VD are vascular diseases such as stroke, with ischemic stroke accounting for a large proportion. After ischemia-reperfusion, factors such as mitochondrial damage and increased xanthine oxidase lead to excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) at the ischemic site, further exacerbating brain injury.

PHN is one of the most common clinical complications of herpes zoster (HZ), the pathogenesis of which is unclear and poorly treated clinically, and many studies now suggest that postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) pain may be related to central neurologic mechanisms. This study aimed to investigate the white matter structural networks and changes in the organization of the rich-club in HZ and PHN. Diffusion imaging (DTI) data from 89 PHN patients, 76 HZ patients, and 66 healthy controls (HCs) were used to construct corresponding structural networks.

In the early days of the urban pandemic, many cities had personal protective equipment (PPE) shortages, which adversely affected urban pandemic governance. Using the COVID-19 strategies employed in Wuhan as the pivotal case study, this study sought to determine effective strategies to optimize city PPE distribution. System dynamics modeling was employed to explore the influence of PPE allocation strategies on pandemic control measures.

Fabry disease (FD) is a systemic disease in which globotriaosylceramide and other naturally occurring glycosphingolipid accumulate in various tissues throughout the body due to mutation of α-galactosidase A (GLA). These induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were generated from a 10-year-old male patient's urine carrying the GLA c.1080_1082del Fabry disease mutation.

Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is a substance that stimulates the proliferation of hepatocytes which promote healing. We developed a macrophage membrane-encapsulated nanosphere drug delivery system containing HGF for the study of burn wound healing. Twenty-seven Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: a saline control (NS) group, an engineered macrophage membrane-encapsulated nanospheres (ETMM@NPS) group, and an engineered macrophage membrane-encapsulated nanospheres treatment with HGF-loaded gene (HGF@ETMM@NPS) group.

The integrated frequency comb generator based on Kerr parametric oscillation has led to chip-scale, gigahertz-spaced combs with new applications spanning hyperscale telecommunications, low-noise microwave synthesis, light detection and ranging, and astrophysical spectrometer calibration. Recent progress in lithium niobate (LiNbO) photonic integrated circuits (PICs) has resulted in chip-scale, electro-optic (EO) frequency combs, offering precise comb-line positioning and simple operation without relying on the formation of dissipative Kerr solitons. However, current integrated EO combs face limited spectral coverage due to the large microwave power required to drive the non-resonant capacitive electrodes and the strong intrinsic birefringence of LiNbO.
