The concentrations of fine particles and selected gas pollutants in the flue gas entering the stack were measured under several common operation modes in an operating coal power plant producing electricity. Particle size distributions in a diameter range from 10 nm to 20 μm were measured by a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS), and the flue gas temperature and concentrations of CO and SO were monitored by a continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS). During the test campaign, five plant operating modes were studied: soot blowing, bypass of flue-gas desulfurization (FGD), reheat burner operating at 0% (turned off), 27%, and 42% (normal condition) of its full capacity.

Space-resolving flux detection is an important technique for the diagnostic of the radiation field within the hohlraum in inertial confinement fusion, especially for the radiation field diagnostic in the novel spherical hohlraum with octahedral six laser entrance holes (LEHs), where localized measurements are necessary for the discrimination of the radiation flux from different LEHs. A novel space-resolving flux detector (SRFD) is developed at the SG-III laser facility for the radiation flux measurement in the first campaign of the octahedral spherical hohlraum energetics experiment. However, the role of hypoxia in endothelial‑mesenchymal transition (EndMT), an important process in the pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension, is not well‑characterized. The dissociative ionization of CO in orthogonally polarized femtosecond laser pulses are studied in a pump-probe scheme. The ionization of CO by the pump pulse and the dissociation of the created CO by the probe pulse can be fully disentangled by identifying the photoelectron momentum distributions. Different from the dissociative ionization by a single pulse in which the CO molecule mostly breaks along the field polarization, in this pump-probe strategy, the CO ion created from ionization by the pump pulse is favored to dissociate when it orients orthogonal to the polarization direction of the probe pulse.

A green and eco-friendly method for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was developed using the cell-free extracts of a yeast strain Magnusiomyces ingens LH-F1. UV-vis spectra showed a distinct absorption band at ~ 540 nm, corresponding to the surface plasmon resonance of AuNPs. Transmission electron microscopy images revealed that the shapes of AuNPs were almost spherical and pseudo-spherical.

Objective: To analyze the effect of three-dimensional (3D) laparoscopic total thyroidectomy combined with central lymph node dissection for thyroid cancer and its effect on the inflammatory response of the patients.

Methods: The clinical data were analyzed in 90 patients with thyroid cancer undergoing radical thyroidectomy at our hospital between September, 2013 to April, 2016, including 30 receiving 3D laparoscopic surgeries, 30 with 2D laparoscopic surgeries and 30 with open surgeries. The surgical data, postoperative adverse reactions and the impact of the surgeries on the inflammatory responses of the patients were compared among the 3 groups.

Octahedral spherical hohlraums with a single laser ring at an injection angle of 55^{∘} are attractive concepts for laser indirect drive due to the potential for achieving the x-ray drive symmetry required for high convergence implosions. Laser-plasma instabilities, however, are a concern given the long laser propagation path in such hohlraums.
