The postnatal development of gonadal glands in seasonal breeders, particularly small rodent species, is influenced by photoperiodic patterns. However, little research has been conducted on the effects of pattern similarity and age differentiation especially in molecular features. This study compares the postnatal development of gonadal glands and the expression of hypothalamic genes related to reproductive regulation in male offspring of Brandt's voles () born under three types of changing photoperiodic patterns: increasing long photoperiod (ILP, 12 h + 3 min/day), natural increasing long photoperiods (NLPs), and decreasing short photoperiods (DSPs, 12 h - 3 min/day), as well as in their paternal voles exposed to these patterns at the same period.

Stimulus-responsive luminescent materials are pivotal in the field of sensing. Fluorescent transition metal complexes with a charge transfer excited state, especially terpyridine-coordinated polymers, are of particular interest due to their tunable emission. In this paper, a novel bis-terpyridine ligand was synthesized and assembled into a coordination polymer, which showed intense visible light absorption and fluorescence emission in the solid state that could be regulated by an acidic or basic pH.

Despite the great progress in molecule photocatalytic solar energy conversion, it is particularly challenging to realize a photocatalytic overall reaction in a non-noble metal complex, which represents a new paradigm for photosynthesis. In this study, a class of novel non-noble metal complexes with head-to-tail geometry were designed and readily synthesized via the coordination of triphenylamine-modified 2,2': 6',2″-terpyridine ligands with Zn. As expected, these complexes exhibited the desired through-space charge-transfer transition, generating both long-lived excited states (on the order of microseconds) and separate redox centers under visible-light irradiation.

In listening tests of noise annoyance, subjects act as "measuring instruments". Noise annoyance of different subjects induced by a same noise sample, or noise annoyance of a same subject induced by a same noise sample in different experimental groups, are different due to the varying psychological scale of subjects. To unify subjects' psychological scale and accurately determine perceived annoyance, it is necessary to investigate the optimal noise annoyance data calibration method.

To address the issue of harsh marine background noise impacting the monitoring signal of fiber-optic hydrophones, we propose a low-noise fiber Bragg grating (FBG) hydroacoustic monitoring system with a reference sensor based on genetic algorithm backpropagation (GA-BP). Through theoretical analysis, we deduce the noise suppression steps of the GA-BP algorithm based on the reference sensor and construct train and test sets based on the data from the reference sensor and monitoring sensor at different times, optimizing the GA-BP algorithm to find the best fitting results and thereby obtaining the low-noise monitoring signal. Experimental results from the anechoic tank show that the proposed method can suppress background noise interference on effective signals and that the suppression effect improves as the background noise increases.

Malnutrition is an important risk factor for multiple organ dysfunction syndrome in the elderly (MODSE) and seriously affects the occurrence, progression and prognosis of MODSE. Shenling Baizhu Power (SBP), a classic formula from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), when integrated with enteral nutrition, has been proven to be an effective clinical strategy for treating the patients of MODSE with malnutrition. This study aimed to investigate the metabolic changes during disease occurrence and SBP treatment, and to discover potential metabolic biomarkers for the diagnosis and efficacy evaluation.

Accurately synthesizing coordination-driven metal-organic cages with customized shape and cavity remains a great challenge for chemists. In this work, a bottom-up step-wise coordination-driven self-assembly approach was put forward. Employing this strategy, three terpyridyl heterometallic-organic truncated tetrahedral cages with different sizes and cavity were precisely synthesized.

  • - The rapid advancement in constructing metal-organic cages with internal cavities faces challenges in synthesizing complex capsules with multiple cavities and understanding how they recognize and interact with multiple guests.
  • - Researchers developed high-order layered metal-organic architectures (G1 to G4) by using specific ligands and metal ions, which function like LEGO blocks to create structures with various compartment sizes.
  • - Experiments showed these structures can encapsulate up to four C molecules and exhibit negative cooperation behavior during multi-guest recognition, offering new insights into interactions in supramolecular chemistry.

Strain-controlled low-cycle fatigue (LCF) tests and stress-controlled creep-fatigue interaction (CFI) tests on the FGH96 superalloy were carried out at 550 °C to obtain the cyclic softening/hardening characteristics at different strain amplitudes and ratcheting strain characteristics under different hold time. The failure mechanism of the FGH96 superalloy under different loading conditions was analyzed through fracture observations. The results show that the FGH96 superalloy exhibits different cyclic softening/hardening characteristics at different strain amplitudes, and the introduction of the hold time at peak stress exacerbates the ratcheting strain of the FGH96 superalloy under asymmetric stress cycles.

Supramolecular architectures with multiple emissive units are especially appealing due to their desired properties, such as artificial light harvesting and white-light emission. But fully achieving multi-wavelength photoluminescence in a single supramolecular architecture remains a challenge. In this paper, functionalized supramolecular architectures containing twelve metal centers and six pyrene moieties were nearly quantitatively synthesized by multi-component self-assembly and fully characterized by 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance, dynamic light scattering, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, traveling-wave ion mobility mass spectrometry, and transmission electron microscopy.

In the past decades, many supramolecular cages with different sizes and shapes have been achieved through coordination-driven self-assembly. However, the strategy of topology adjustment by using a steric hindrance effect has not been fully developed. In this Article, we report the synthesis of ligand with rotatable arms, ligand with restricted arms, and their precisely controlled self-assembly to tetramer cage and dimer cage , respectively, under the same conditions.

A terpyridine-based supramolecular cage was successfully synthesized by the self-assembly of a hexapodal metal-organic ligand with Zn. This metallo-cage exhibited two large parallel planes on the top and bottom with diameters close to 6 nm and a face-to-face distance close to 3.5 nm, thus possessing a large cavity.

Using the data of listed firms in China's A-share heavy pollution industry between 2008 and 2020, based on organizational theory, this study examines the impact of prospector-type firms and defender-type firms on environmental information disclosure quality. Empirical evidence shows that prospector-type firms reduce environmental information disclosure quality, compared with defender-type firms. After a series of robustness tests, the conclusion is still valid.

High-quality environmental information disclosure is not only an effective way for the firm to fulfill its environmental responsibility and promote green development, but also an important governance mechanism to reduce the degree of information asymmetry between the firm's management and shareholders and alleviate the agency conflict. As an important shareholder of a firm, there are two different hypotheses about the influence of institutional investors on firm decision-making and behavior: monitor and collusion. Institutional investors are not homogeneous, and there are significant differences in the impact of different types of institutional investors on firm decision-making and behavior.
