Purpose: To assess the radiographic features of 36 hips with hereditary multiple exostoses (HME).

Methods: Hip parameters of 12 males and 6 females (36 hips) aged 2 to 28 years with HME were assessed using anteroposterior radiographs. The recorded features included the sites of osteochondromas, the femoral head/neck ratio, the Reimer's migration percentage, Sharp's acetabular angle, the centre edge angle, the femoral neck-shaft angle, and degenerative changes.

Limb lengthening aims to reduce limb length discrepancy, improve cosmesis, and permit more functional mobility. Scarring, however, is a major concern of patients. In this study 25 patients (27 lengthening sites) were assessed; 6 sites were lengthened with Orthofix and 21 sites with Ilizarov.

Nineteen patients with arthrogryposis (38 hips) with significant hip problems were reviewed (13 dislocations, 9 subluxations, 16 contractures). The average follow-up was 20 years, with 15 patients reaching skeletal maturity. All patients had minimal or no pain.
