Although traditionally regarded as an impediment, the protein corona can facilitate the advancement of targeted drug delivery systems. This study presents an innovative approach for targeting acute myeloid leukemia (AML) using nanoparticles with agglutinated protein (NAPs). Agglutinated transferrin and C3b in NAPs selectively bind to CD71 and CD11b, receptors that are overexpressed on myeloid leukemic cells compared to nonmalignant cells.

Root hairs are tip-growing cells that anchor plants in the soil and are critical for water uptake, nutrient acquisition, and plant-environment interactions. While the molecular mechanisms that maintain the polar growth of root hairs through the asymmetric distribution of proteins, such as RHO-RELATED PROTEIN FROM PLANTS 2 (ROP2), have been described, it is unclear whether and how the transcripts encoding these tip-localized proteins are polarly localized and locally translated. Here, we demonstrated that ROP2 mRNA exhibits polar localization in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) root hairs.

Article Synopsis
  • This study compares the clinical value of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) for predicting the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in a large cohort of participants.
  • After analyzing data from 19,399 participants without CVD, it was found that both MAFLD and NAFLD significantly increased the risk of developing CVD, with values indicating elevated hazard ratios for each condition.
  • Ultimately, MAFLD did not show any advantage over NAFLD in CVD risk assessment, but the presence of both conditions (Both-FLD) correlated with an even higher risk and better predictive accuracy for future cardiovascular outcomes.

Our previous study has shown that hydrogen sulfide (HS) can attenuate cigarette smoke exposure (CSE)-induced placental injury in rats. This study investigated whether HS alleviates CSE-induced endothelial glycocalyx (eGC) impairment and promotes placental angiogenesis in rats. Twenty-four pregnant rats were randomly divided into four groups: control, NaHS (a donor of HS), CSE, and CSE + NaHS.

High internal phase Pickering emulsion (HIPPE) stabilized by heat induced soy protein isolate aggregates (HSPI) alone had limited stability and poor 3D printing performance. While there is few research about HIPPE stabilized by HSPI and polysaccrides at neutral pH condition, where HSPI and ĸ-carrageenan (CG) were combined to fabricate HIPPE in this research. It was found that the incorporation of CG significantly decreased the droplet size and improved the storage stability of the resulting HIPPE.

P2-type NaNiMnO cathodes have attracted attention due to their excellent stability and low cost, making them promising for sodium-ion batteries. However, their practical application is limited by a low capacity at lower voltages and severe phase transitions at higher voltage. To address these challenges, we report a material NaNiMnO-OVs (NNMO-OVs) with significantly slowed phase transitions at high voltage by introducing oxygen vacancies OVs into the P2/P3 mixed phase cathode NaNiMnO (NNMO).
