Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy has become the most popular weight loss surgery currently, but it inevitably leaves multiple small scars in the abdomen. Although the appearance of single-incision laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy achieve better cosmetic results, it may lead to postoperative complications such as umbilical hernia and umbilical infection. The author has developed a new surgical approach that can compensate for these deficiencies, which we called needlescopic laparoscope sleeve gastrectomy (NLSG).

Flavan-3-ol oligomers (FLOs), including proanthocyanidins (PAs) and theasinensins (TSs), contribute greatly to the flavor and bioactivity of the tea beverage. Ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry has been widely used in profiling a wide range of compounds in tea. However, the detection and identification of FLOs with low concentration and high structural diversity remain meaningful yet challenging work.

Understanding the formation and mitigation of chloropropanol esters during traditional Chinese cooking using a lipase hydrolysis-based method.

Chloropropanol esters are major contaminants in food, but their formation during traditional Chinese cooking remains unclear. In this study, a method based on lipase hydrolysis pretreatment was developed and validated to determine 4 chloropropanol esters. The formation of these esters during stir-frying and hotpot cooking under various conditions was investigated.

Effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions in managing symptom clusters among lung cancer patients: a systematic review.

Background: Non-pharmacological interventions, as complements to pharmacological treatments, are widely employed for managing symptom clusters in patients with lung cancer. Although numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses have explored the effects of these interventions, most studies have centred on the broader cancer population and specific symptom clusters. This review aims to consolidate existing non-pharmacological interventions and assess their effectiveness in managing symptom clusters among lung cancer patients.

Two Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-endospore-forming bacteria, designated as strain MH1 and MH2, were isolated from branches of wilted pepper plants () collected from a farmland in Machong town, Guangdong, China, and investigated using a polyphasic approach. MH1 grew at temperatures of 4-42 °C (optimum 28 °C), with 0-6.0 % (w/v) NaCl and at pH 4.

Clinical trials investigating the efficacy of corticosteroids in the treatment of ARDS often yield contradictory results. We hereby conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the efficacy of corticosteroids in ARDS management.

Unique trajectory of gene family evolution from genomic analysis of nearly all known species in an ancient yeast lineage.

Gene gains and losses are a major driver of genome evolution; their precise characterization can provide insights into the origin and diversification of major lineages. Here, we examined gene family evolution of 1,154 genomes from nearly all known species in the medically and technologically important yeast subphylum Saccharomycotina. We found that yeast gene family and genome evolution are distinct from plants, animals, and filamentous ascomycetes and are characterized by small genome sizes and smaller gene numbers but larger gene family sizes.

Although the initial outbreak of wilt in the 1970s was effectively controlled by disease-resistant varieties, the disease has recently re-emerged in coastal regions of Guangdong. In this study, we report the isolation, characterization, and comparative genomic analysis of 11 RSSC strains from diseased at various locations along the coast of Guangdong.

Organisms exhibit extensive variation in ecological niche breadth, from very narrow (specialists) to very broad (generalists). Two general paradigms have been proposed to explain this variation: (i) trade-offs between performance efficiency and breadth and (ii) the joint influence of extrinsic (environmental) and intrinsic (genomic) factors. Promoting Lung Cancer Screen Decision-Making and Early Detection Behaviors: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Background: Promoting lung cancer screening (LCS) is complex. Previous studies have overlooked that LCS behaviors are stage based and thus did not identify the characteristics of LCS interventions at different screening stages.

Objective: The aims of this study were to explore the characteristics and efficacy of interventions in promoting LCS decision making and behaviors and to evaluate these interventions.

Screening behaviors of high-risk individuals for lung cancer: A cross-sectional study.

Objective: To investigate current screening behaviors among high-risk individuals and analyse the factors that influence them.

Methods: A cross-sectional of 1652 high-risk individuals were recruited in Fujian Province, China from February to October 2022. Intrathecal morphine delivery at prepontine cistern to control refractory cancer-related pain: a case report of extensive metastatic and refractory cancer pain.

Background: Extensive metastatic and refractory cancer pain is common, and exhibits a dissatisfactory response to the conventional intrathecal infusion of opioid analgesics.

Case Presentation: The present study reports a case of an extensive metastatic esophageal cancer patient with severe intractable pain, who underwent translumbar subarachnoid puncture with intrathecal catheterization to the prepontine cistern. After continuous infusion of low-dose morphine, the pain was well-controlled with a decrease in the numeric rating scale (NRS) of pain score from 9 to 0, and the few adverse reactions to the treatment disappeared at a low dose of morphine.
