Distinguishing tumor maintenance genes from initiation, progression, and passenger genes is critical for developing effective therapies. We employed a functional genomic approach using the Lazy Piggy transposon to identify tumor maintenance genes in vivo and applied this to sonic hedgehog (SHH) medulloblastoma (MB). Combining Lazy Piggy screening in mice and transcriptomic profiling of human MB, we identified the voltage-gated potassium channel KCNB2 as a candidate maintenance driver.

BM occurs when cancerous cells from primary cancer elsewhere in the body gain the ability to metastasize and invade the brain parenchyma despite the formidable defense of the BBB. These metastatic cells manipulate the BBB's components, changing them from gatekeepers of the brain to accomplices that aid in their progression into the brain tissue.

Setting: 16 centres in mainland China from 12 June 2020 to 31 January 2023.
R-spondin1 (Rspo1) is a member of the secreted furin-like domain-containing protein family, and it is recognized for its significance in mammalian ovarian development. However, its role in teleost ovarian development remains largely uninvestigated. The Qi River crucian carp (Carassius auratus) is a species capable of gynogenesis, and it encounters challenges of premature ovarian maturation in aquaculture settings.

Caov-3 and SKOV3 cells were divided into control(Vehicle) group, APS group, glutathione peroxidase 4 inhibitor(RSL3) group, and APS+RSL3 group. After 48 h of intervention, the activity and morphology of the cells in each group were observed.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted, encompassing 570 cases of CAG patients admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who underwent gastroscopy and received pathologically confirmed diagnoses between June 2018 and June 2023. Additionally, 570 cases without CAG who underwent health checkups were included and classified into the control group.
Unlabelled: Our study investigated trends in osteoporosis management in Xiamen from 2012 to 2021, revealing improvements in screening and treatment, although medication use remained low. Additionally, we identified factors that may influence medication use and emphasized the importance of effective osteoporosis management strategies.
Purpose: The goal of the current study is to explore trends in assessment, diagnosis after fragility fractures, and osteoporosis treatment among hospitalized patients in Xiamen, China, between 2012 and 2021.
Assessing the eco-health of regional reservoirs is essential for sustainable water resource utilization and water security, particularly in water-scarce areas. This study constructed a Benthic Index of Biotic Integrity (B-IBI) based on the community characteristics of macrobenthos in ten large and medium-sized reservoirs across four major river basins in Henan Province, China. A total of 90 taxa were identified, representing 3 phyla, 6 classes, 17 orders, 45 families and 81 genera.

Extraocular muscles (EOMs) are particularly resistant to ALS progression and exploring the underlying molecular nature may deliver great therapeutic value. Reactive aldehyde 4-hydroxynonenal (HNE) is implicated in ALS pathogenesis and ALDH3A1 is an inactivation-resistant intracellular detoxifier of 4-HNE protecting eyes against UV-induced oxidative stress.

Recent investigations demonstrated that these particles can induce polyneuropathy in THR patients. The current study aims to address a detailed molecular investigation of CoCrMo nanoparticle-mediated mitochondrial dynamics using induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons (iPSC neurons).

Pericyte loss has been considered as the hallmark of diabetic retinopathy (DR), which is a major complication of diabetes and the leading cause of blindness in adults. However, the precise function of pericytes in regulating the retinal microenvironment and the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown.

Distinguished initiatives such as the Human Connectome Project, UK Biobank, and Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, among others, stand as remarkable international collaborations that have significantly advanced our understanding of the brain. With the advancement of big data technology, changes in healthcare models, and continuous development in biomedical research, various types of large-scale projects are being established and promoted worldwide.

The onset of congenital hydrocephalus is closely related to mutations in genes that regulate brain development. Currently, our understanding of the mechanisms of congenital hydrocephalus remains limited, and the prognosis of existing treatments is unsatisfactory.

We previously characterized the positive roles of the wheat bZIP transcription factor TaFD-Like2-1A (TaFDL2-1A) in drought stress tolerance and ABA biosynthesis and response, whereas a dwarfing shoot exhibited under normal conditions.

Background: Gastric intestinal metaplasia(GIM) is an independent risk factor for GC, however, its pathogenesis is still unclear. Ferroptosis is a new type of programmed cell death, which may be involved in the process of GIM. The purpose of this study was to analyze the expression of ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) in GIM tissues and to explore the relationship between ferroptosis and GIM.

Conducting extensive sonographic research using a safe and inexpensive tool for identifying thyroid nodules is necessary. The aim of this study was to identify whether having the highest-risk ultrasound (US) characteristic suggests that US-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy of subcentimeter nodules is more appropriate for the identification of malignancy than active surveillance (AS) or surgery.
