Background: Empathizing and systemizing abilities are respectively associated with key developmental outcomes like intelligence, executive function, and autistic traits, particularly in typically developing (TD) children. However, how specific cognitive styles-defined by the balance between empathizing and systemizing-relate to these outcomes remains unclear.

Methods: We conducted a latent profile analysis on 502 TD children aged 6‒12 years to identify cognitive styles based on multiple dimensions of empathizing and systemizing, measured by the Children's Empathy Quotient and Systemizing Quotient.

Examining the impact of perceived behavioral control and planning on closing the exercise intention-behavior gap: Insights from a meta-analytic structural equation modeling study.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the roles of perceived behavioral control (PBC), action planning, and coping planning in bridging the gap between exercise intention and behavior. By using a Meta-Analytic Structural Equation Model (MASEM), we quantify the specific effects of these variables and explore their mediating roles in the relationships between intention, PBC, and behavior. The study provides insights into how these constructs contribute to informing effective behavioral intervention strategies.

Disappearing and reappearing of structure order in colloidal photonic crystals.

Mechanoresponsive colloidal photonic crystals embedded in elastic solid matrices exhibit tunable optical properties under mechanical force, showing great potential for various applications. However, the response of colloidal crystals embedded in a liquid matrix remains largely unexplored. In this study, we investigate the structural and optical transitions of colloidal crystals composed of particles suspended in a liquid oligomer under pressing and shear forces.

Changes in urinary concentrations of contemporary and emerging chemicals in commerce during the COVID-19 pandemic: Insights from the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program.

Previous research indicates that the COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed alterations in behaviors that may impact exposures to environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals. This includes changes in the use of chemicals found in consumer products, food packaging, and exposure to air pollutants. Within the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program, a national consortium initiated to understand the effects of environmental exposures on child health and development, our objective was to assess whether urinary concentrations of a wide range of potential endocrine-disrupting chemicals varied before and during the pandemic.

Servant Leadership and Teachers' Emotional Exhaustion-The Mediation Role of Hindrance Stress and Depersonalization.

This study aims to explore the impact of school servant leadership on teacher emotional exhaustion in the context of Chinese education, and analyze the mediating effects of teacher hindrance stress and depersonalization. Based on the Job Demand-Control-Support (JDCS) model and servant leadership theory, the research constructs a model for the influence mechanism of school servant leadership on teacher emotional exhaustion and validates it using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). A total of 3751 primary and secondary school teachers from eight provinces in China participated in this study.

Comparison of Race-Neutral versus Race-Specific Spirometry Equations for Evaluation of Child Asthma.

Race-based estimates of pulmonary function in children could influence the evaluation of asthma in children from racial and ethnic minoritized backgrounds. To determine if race-neutral (Global Lung Function Initiative [GLI]-Global) versus race-specific (GLI-Race-Specific) reference equations differentially impact spirometry evaluation of childhood asthma. The analysis included 8,719 children aged 5 to <12 years from 27 cohorts across the United States grouped by parent-reported race and ethnicity.

Objective: The aim of this case report is to assess the clinicopathological characteristics and differential diagnosis of orbital granular cell tumor (GCT).

Methods: Clinical and imaging data of a rare case of orbital GCT involving the superior rectus muscle were collected. Its clinical characteristics, imaging, and histopathological features were observed.

Blue phase liquid crystals (BPLCs) have exhibited promising applications in 3D flexible displays due to their molecular-level self-assembled chiral structures, fast response, and tunable polarized colors. However, there remain challenges for spatiotemporal programming of 3D chiral color units for BPLC dynamic patterning. Herein, the programmable temporal evolution of micrometer-scale color units and spatial configuration switch of chiral modes are achieved by spontaneous ink diffusion-driven asymmetric lattice deformation in dual-chiral polymer-templated blue phases.

Transnasal endoscopic orbital inner wall decompression combined with penetrating keratoplasty for corneal ulcer perforation in Graves' ophthalmopathy: A case report.

Rationale: To report a unique case of corneal ulcer perforation associated with a severe manifestation of Graves' ophthalmopathy that was treated with unilateral transnasal endoscopic orbital inner wall decompression combined with penetrating keratoplasty.

Patient Concerns: A 66-year-old male with Graves' disease experiencing unilateral corneal ulcer perforation, a rarity in medical literature. He presented with a 9-month history of bilateral exophthalmos accompanied by decreased vision, and over the past month, he experienced loss of vision and painful swelling in the right eye (RE).

Identification of spatial protection and restoration priorities for ecological security pattern in a rapidly urbanized region: A case study in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic Circle, China.

The continuous expansion of modern cities not only leads to ecological degradation but also seriously threatens regional ecological security and sustainable development. The construction of ecological security patterns (ESPs) has emerged as a significant approach to alleviate or even solve the conflict between regional development and ecological protection. The Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle (CCEC) represents the core area of regional economic development strategy in western China, characterized by rapid economic growth from 2000 to 2020.

Prediction of disease progression in individuals with subjective cognitive decline using brain network analysis.

Objective: The objective of this study is to explore potential differences in brain functional networks at baseline between individuals with progressive subjective cognitive decline (P-SCD) and stable subjective cognitive decline (S-SCD), as well as to identify potential indicators that can effectively distinguish between P-SCD and S-SCD.

Methods: Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database was utilized to enroll SCD individuals with a follow-up period of over 3 years. This study included 39 individuals with S-SCD, 15 individuals with P-SCD, and 45 cognitively normal (CN) individuals.

White matter substrates underlying morphological awareness deficit in Chinese children with developmental dyslexia.

Background: Morphological awareness (MA) deficit is strongly associated with Chinese developmental dyslexia (DD). However, little is known about the white matter substrates underlying the MA deficit in Chinese children with DD.

Methods: In the current study, 34 Chinese children with DD and 42 typical developmental (TD) children were recruited to complete a diffusion magnetic resonance imaging scan and cognitive tests for MA.

Methods: We investigated the role that EF plays in the relationship between motor coordination and social communication in a school-aged autistic population via a structural model in a statistically robust manner.

Enteral nutrition in children and adolescents who receive extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and its impact on complications and mortality: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Enteral nutrition (EN) is one method of nutrition support for children and adolescents receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy, and there are no guidelines for its use in this population. We conducted a systematic review to determine whether EN is effective and safe in children supported by ECMO. We searched the Cochrane Library database, MEDLINE, and Embase on Ovid in March 2023 to identify studies that evaluated children and adolescents who received ECMO and were treated with EN.

Water resource dynamics and protection strategies for inland lakes: A case study of Hongjiannao Lake.

Globally, lakes are drying up and shrinking and inland lakes, in particular, face severe water shortage problems. Thus, the degradation mechanisms and protection measures for inland lakes urgently need to be explored. Hongjiannao Lake (HL), an inland lake on the border of Shaanxi Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, was selected for the present case study.

Incidence of erectile dysfunction among middle-aged and aging sexual minority men living with or without HIV.

Introduction: Erectile dysfunction (ED) has been established as a comorbidity among men living with HIV, but comparisons by HIV serostatus of ED incidence in a longitudinal follow-up cohort of men are lacking. We sought to evaluate the incidence of ED spanning a period of 12 years in a longitudinal cohort of sexual minority men (SMM) living with and without HIV.

Methods: We analyzed ED incidence data for 625 participants in the longitudinal Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study from visits spanning October 2006 to April 2019.

Research on Image Stitching Algorithm Based on Point-Line Consistency and Local Edge Feature Constraints.

Image stitching aims to synthesize a wider and more informative whole image, which has been widely used in various fields. This study focuses on improving the accuracy of image mosaic and proposes an image mosaic method based on local edge contour matching constraints. Because the accuracy and quantity of feature matching have a direct influence on the stitching result, it often leads to wrong image warpage model estimation when feature points are difficult to detect and match errors are easy to occur.
