Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) after cardiac arrest (CA) is an important cause of neurological impairment and leads to considerable morbidity and mortality. The stability of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is crucial for minimizing secondary neurological damage and improving long-term prognosis. However, the precise mechanisms and regulatory pathways that contribute to BBB dysfunction after CPR remain elusive.

Objective: To systematically review and critically evaluate currently available predictive models for sarcopenia in dialysis patients.
Methods: We systematically searched five databases until March 2024.
Background: Liver cancer (LC) is a deadly malignancy with limited therapeutic options in recent years. Natural killer cell-derived exosomes (NK-exo), as an important bridge of information transmission between cells, also have a certain killing effect on tumor cells. On this basis, this study investigated the specific regulatory mechanism of NK-exo on LC cells.

Previous research has indicated that the activation of the triple recycling pathway significantly enhances the bioavailability of flavonoids. The efflux transporters, BCRP and MRP2 are critical regulatory molecules within the enterohepatic triple recycling pathways.

Obesity is associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD). Mitochondria are integral to the cardiovascular system, and it has been reported that mitochondrial transfer is associated with the pathogenesis of multiple CVDs and obesity.

Molecular biology and computational chemistry are powerful tools for this purpose, enabling the investigation of biochemical reactions at both the gene and atomic levels. This study employs the biodegradation of ten sulfonamide antibiotics as a case study to demonstrate the integration of genomics and quantum chemistry approaches in exploring the biodegradation behavior of emerging contaminants.

A specific set of indicators to evaluate the quality of chronic pain management in this population has yet to be developed. Therefore, the present study constructed a set of indicators to assess the quality of chronic pain management in Chinese community-dwelling older adults, providing a standardized reference and guidance for community health centers to manage chronic pain in this population.

Methods: The questionnaire was translated according to Brislin's classic back-translation model. We conducted cultural debugging through cognitive interviews with Chinese-speaking women who had experienced pelvic pain (n = 24).
Objectives: The study aimed to assess the incidence of post-coblation tonsillectomy hemorrhage (PCTH) and identify associated risk factors in a pediatric Chinese population.
Methods: This prospective, multicenter cohort study, conducted over 17 months, included 8854 pediatric patients who underwent coblation tonsillectomy across 15 research centers in China. Patient data were collected through an Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system.

Objective: To develop a reproducible survival rabbit model for laryngotracheal stenosis (LTS).
Methods: Seventy New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits were randomly divided into experimental groups ( = 30) and a control group ( = 40). In experimental groups, a nylon brush was inserted retrograde from the tracheotomy through the subglottis and rotated until a full layer circumferential mucosal injury to cartilage exposure, assisted by fiberoptic laryngoscopy (FOL) visualization.
Objectives: The detection rate of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREfm) displayed a dramatically increase in Guangdong, China from 2021 to 2023, for which the molecular epidemiology and genomic characteristics remain largely unexplored. In this study, we investigated the genetic features and epidemiology of VREfm isolates in Guangdong.
Methods: A total of 54 Guangdong VREfm isolates were collected from three tertiary hospitals in Guangdong.
Rubella is listed as a disease that needs to be eliminated worldwide by the World Health Organization. This study aimed to investigate rubella epidemiology and genetic characteristics based on data from 12 years of laboratory-based surveillance (2009-2020) in Tianjin and to provide baseline genotype data for monitoring future rubella control efforts. We collected RV-positive throat swab samples from confirmed rubella cases during 2009-2020 in Tianjin to isolate RV, amplify and sequence target gene fragments, construct phylogenetic trees, and analyze nucleotide homologies.

Background: After acute myocardial infarction (AMI), it is common to observe new-onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF), which is often related to a negative prognosis. Some P-wave variables (P-wave duration [PWD], P-wave amplitude, and interatrial block [IAB]), reflecting the process of electrical and structural remodeling, could predict the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). This study aimed to assess the predictive value of P-wave variables for post-AMI NOAF.

However, its exact contribution at the organismal level remains uncharacterized. Here, we use STING::GFP knockin reporter Drosophila flies to document activation of the pathway in vivo.

The primary bottleneck lies in the difficulty of finding hole transport materials (HTMs) that can both match the energy levels of blue perovskite materials and exhibit efficient hole transport performance. Herein, a novel non-conjugated polyethylene carbazole-based polymer (P-AGCz) is developed that has excellent solution processability and serves as an efficient dopant-free HTM for PeLEDs.

Identifying key factors that contribute to chemoresistance and understanding the associated molecular mechanisms is therefore essential.
Method: The GEO databases were utilized to pinpoint factors related to chemoresistance, which were subsequently validated using clinical tissue samples.
A systematic theoretical study was performed on the electrophilic and nucleophilic properties of Group 10 square-planar metal compounds [M(SCNEt)] (M = Ni , Pd , and Pt ) and their complexes. The nucleophilic metal center and coordinated sulfur atom in [M(SCNEt)] facilitate the formation of metal-involving and conventional noncovalent bonds. The presence a heavier metal center results in a more negative electrostatic potential and a larger nucleophilicity, which in turn leads to the formation of stronger metal-involving noncovalent bonds than those formed by a lighter metal center.

Photocatalytic reduction of uranyl ions (UO) is an environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and highly effective method for uranium-containing wastewater treatment and uranium recovery. Herein, a novel photocatalytic material CH-8 @NNFO-4 with abundant oxygen vacancies was synthesize by growing Ca(OH) on the surface of Fe doped NaNbO in situ. The Ca(OH) synergizes with the oxygen vacancies, creating a microenvironment that narrows the bandgap and extends the light response range.
