Article Synopsis
  • This study explored how the variability of 284 different lipids in the blood over time relates to asymptomatic coronary atherosclerosis in 83 healthy individuals aged 41-75.
  • Researchers found that most lipids showed more variability between different people than within the same person over time.
  • Specific lipids, particularly certain glycerides and ceramides, were significantly linked to coronary plaque types and risks, suggesting that monitoring lipid variability could be important for assessing heart disease risk.

Coronary CT angiography can be an attractive alternative to invasive coronary angiography.

This study reconstructed a three dimensional fluid/structure interaction (FSI) model to investigate the compliance of human soft palate during calm respiration. Magnetic resonance imaging scans of a healthy male subject were obtained for model reconstruction of the upper airway and the soft palate. The fluid domain consists of nasal cavity, nasopharynx and oropharynx.
