Enhanced understanding and an accurate diagnosis of papillary adenomas of the lung are crucial for clinical treatment and prognostic assessment. Objective: In an effort to minimize transfusions in patients undergoing elective coronary artery bypass grafting operations after recent clopidogrel exposure, we studied laboratory tests predictive of platelet dysfunction and used a strict algorithm-driven treatment of bleeding.
Methods: Forty-five patients receiving clopidogrel within 6 days of the operation and 45 control subjects were studied. Prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, platelet count, and platelet function test results were measured before heparinization, after protamine administration, and then every 2 hours.
Because of the increasing need for anesthesia in the CCL, anesthesiologists are often involved in diagnostic and interventional procedures in this setting. Safe delivery of anesthesia requires adequate preparation and familiarity with the procedure and its surroundings. Radiation safety is of paramount importance for the patient and the practitioner, and ready access to the services of anesthesia support personnel, the pharmacy, and the stat laboratory is a key factor for success.
