Chloride channels (ClCs) have gained worldwide interest because of their molecular diversity, widespread distribution in mammalian tissues and organs, and their link to various human diseases. Nine different ClCs have been molecularly identified and functionally characterized in mammals. ClC-2 is one of nine mammalian members of the ClC family.

The multi-channel microdrive is fabricated from printed circuit board base, screws, nuts and clamping screws. Rotation of the screw drives both the nut and the attached electrodes to move forward simultaneously.

We studied the conductance of pyridyl-based single molecule junctions with Cu contacts by using an electrochemical jump-to-contact scanning tunneling microscopy break junction (ECSTM-BJ) approach. The single molecule junctions of 4,4'-bipyridine (BPY), 1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (BPY-EE) and 1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (BPY-EA) bridged with Cu clusters show three sets of conductance values. These values are smaller than the conductance values of single molecule junctions with Au electrodes measured by the traditional scanning tunneling microscopy break junction in acidic or neutral solutions, which can be attributed to the different electronic coupling efficiencies between molecules and electrodes.

In the present study, we demonstrated that the growth inhibitory effect of let-7a1 is directly related to targeting IGF1R gene expression in PC-3 cells. TargetScan predicted three potential target sites (T1, T2 and T3) of let-7a in the 3' untranslational region (3' UTR) of IGF1R mRNA.

Methods: Forty SD rats were randomly and equally divided into sham-operation, model, EA and non-acupoint (the lateral-superior side of the hip) groups (10 rats/group). CCS model was established by injection of collagenase (1 U/microL) and heparin (7 U/microL) into the right caudate nucleus.
Background: Clinical studies have shown that biofeedback-assisted relaxation positively influences the treatment outcomes of sleep disturbance. However, there are only few studies reporting the timing of relaxation training initiation, and the relationships between the timing of initiation and the effectiveness of relaxation remain unclear.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the optimal timing for initiating nurse-led biofeedback-assisted relaxation on hospitalized coronary heart disease patients with sleep disturbance.
A novel, facile and green approach for the fabrication of H2O2, glutathione (GSH) and glucose detection biosensor using water-stable PVA and PVA/PEI nanofibers decorated with AgNPs by combining an in situ reduction approach and electrospinning technique has been demonstrated. Small, uniform and well-dispersed AgNPs embedded in the PVA nanofibers and immobilized on functionalized PVA/PEI nanofibers indicate the highly sensitive detection of H2O2 with a detection limit of 5 μM and exhibit a fast response, broad linear range, low detection limit and excellent stability and reusability.

This study was purposed to explore the relationship between the mRNA expression of telomere protection protein TIN2 and POT1 and the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The expression of TIN2 and POT1 genes at the mRNA levels were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR in 51 patients with MDS and 10 normal controls. The results showed that the mRNA expressions of TIN2 in RA/RARS/RCMD/MDS-U, RAEB-1 and RAEB-2 groups according to the World Health Organization criteria were significantly higher than that in the controls (P < 0.

Thus far, the intracellular mechanisms for the effect of serotonin on appetite regulation remain unclear. It has been recently demonstrated that reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the hypothalamus are a crucial integrative target for the regulation of food intake.

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical significance of HMGB1 expression in T-cell lymphoma.
Methods: Immunohistochemical staining for HMGB1 and survivin was performed with specimens from 120 cases of T-cell lymphoma and 40 cases of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia with antibodies against human HMGB1 and survivin.
Results: The expression of HMGB1 and survivin was significantly higher in tissues of T-cell lymphoma than in reactive lymphoid hyperplasia.
The calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR), a G protein coupled receptor, is involved in a number of physiological and pathological processes. Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) have a potential role to differentiate into all types of cells. Whether CaSR is functionally expressed in ESCs is unclear.

Objective: To observe the effects of forearms devascularization on the volt-ampere (V-A) characteristics of Neiguan (PC 6) and Taiyuan (LU 9) so as to investigate the relationship among functions of acupoints, qi and blood in human body and V-A characteristics of acupoints.
Methods: Either forearms of 23 healthy volunteers were devascularized and the changes of V-A characteristics in ipsilateral Neiguan (PC 6) and Taiyuan (LU 9) in normal and devascularization statuses were detected by home-made intelligent V-A detecting system.
Results: Compared with the normal status, both range-increasing and range-decreasing V-A areas of Neiguan (PC 6) and Taiyuan (LU 9) were significantly increased in devascularization status (P < 0.

Methods: We cultured undifferentiated H9 human embryonic stem cell line in low-adhesion dishes to form embryonic bodies (EBs). After 12 days, EBs were harvested, re-suspended into rat tail collagen type I, and put into the incubator (37℃).
Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous endocrine disorder accompanied with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease; despite being a common condition, the pathogenesis of PCOS remains unclear. Our aim was to investigate the potential metabolic profiles for different phenotypes of PCOS, as well as for the early prognosis of complications.
Methods: A total of 217 women with PCOS and 48 healthy women as normal controls were studied.
Objective: To explore the different expression of proteins between human clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) cell line RLC-310 and normal renal proximal tubule epithelial cell line HK-2, and to search new differentially expressed proteins of RCC.
Methods: RLC-310 and HK-2 cells were cultured in vitro. The total proteins were separated by ProteomeLab PF 2D protein fractionation system and the differential expression protein fractions of the two cell lines were analyzed and identified by capillary liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS).
Background: α-galactosidase has been widely used in animal husbandry to reduce anti-nutritional factors (such as α-galactoside) in feed. Intestine-specific and substrate inducible expression of α-galactosidase would be highly beneficial for transgenic animal production.
Methods: To achieve the intestine-specific and substrate inducible expression of α-galactosidase, we first identified intestine-specific promoters by comparing the transcriptional activity and tissue specificity of four intestine-specific promoters from human intestinal fatty acid binding protein, rat intestinal fatty acid binding protein, human mucin-2 and human lysozyme.

Quantitative proteomics can be used as a screening tool for identification of differentially expressed proteins as potential biomarkers for cancers. Here, we comparatively analyzed the proteome profiles of ovarian cancer tissues and normal ovarian epithelial tissues. Using the high-throughput proteomic technology of isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ)-coupled with two-dimensional-liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, 1,259 unique proteins were identified.
