The optimal treatment for full-thickness burn injuries involves surgical intervention, which may include skin grafting or reconstruction by flap. The complexity of treatment arises from the need for both effective temporary wound coverage and permanent skin restoration while also considering the potential risk of finger amputation in the case of hand burn. A 22-year-old woman sustained a thermal burn of three fingers while participating in an art activity involving wax hand molding.

The use of argatroban as an alternative to heparin allowed us to perform a free flap for leg salvage and a deep inferior epigastric perforator flap for breast reconstruction without microvascular complication, with a 0.01 mg/mL solution.

While knowledge of the venous anatomy is crucial to ensure safe skin incisions, skin flap design, or blood return restoration for digital replantations, data in anatomical and clinical textbooks are rather limited. The purpose of this anatomical study was to describe the venous anatomy of the digits and the hand.

Background Hygiene measures are recommended to prevent toxoplasmosis during pregnancy, although screening for seroconversion in pregnant women currently are debated and practices vary among countries. Objectives The purpose of this systematic literature review was to assess the effectiveness of hygiene measures during pregnancy to prevent toxoplasmosis infection. Search Strategy We followed the standard MOOSE and PRISMA criteria when conducting this systematic review and reporting the results.

The vastus lateralis flap has been proposed as an advancement or rotational flap to cover soft-tissue defects for such locoregional indications. We performed an anatomical and a radiological study to assess the vascularization of the proximal vastus lateralis muscle achieved through the transverse branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery in order to decrease the morbidity of the classical flap retrieval technique.

Improvement of our knowledge in this field could lead to better development of animal models for both pedagogical purposes and surgical experimentation. The objective of this comparative study was to describe the descriptive anatomy of the inferior epigastric, subscapular and internal thoracic pedicles in three domestic mammals commonly used as animal models for experimentation.

Phylogeny seems to give the most relevant and plausible explanation of this anatomical variant as a remnant of the panniculus carnosus. However, authors are not unanimous about its origin.

Objective: To assess the feasibility of 3D modelisation of fetal anatomy by using the Computer-assisted anatomic dissection (CAAD) based on immunolabeled histologic slices and MRI slices with a specific 3D software.
Study Design: For pelvis and lower limbs, subjects came from legal abortion, medical pregnancy termination, or late miscarriage. Specimens were fixed in 10 % formalin, then embedded in paraffin wax and serially sectioned.
Background: The national ranking examination (NRE) marks the end of the second cycle (6th university year) of French medical studies and ranks students allowing them to choose their specialty and city of residency. We studied the potential predictive factors of success at the 2015 NRE by students attending a French School of Medicine.
Methods: From March 2016 to March 2017, a retrospective study of factors associated with the 2015 NRE success was conducted and enrolled 242 students who attended their sixth year at the school of medicine of Reims.
Purpose: While anatomical variations of the subscapular vessels are frequently encountered during axillary dissection, little is found in the literature. The aim of this cadaveric study was to define arterial and venous anatomical variations and frequencies of the subscapular vascular pedicle and its terminal/afferent vessels in women.
Methods: We performed 80 dissections of the axillary region on forty female formalin-embalmed cadavers.
Background: The volume of the profunda femoris artery perforator (PAP) flap limits its indications to small- and medium-sized breast reconstructions after modified radical mastectomy for cancer. We report a modified PAP flap design, including not only a vertical extension that increases its volume but also the skin surface, which suits larger breasts requiring immediate or delayed breast reconstructions and compare the results with our horizontal skin paddle PAP flap experience.
Patients And Methods: In our center between November 2014 and November 2016, 51 consecutive patients underwent a PAP flap breast reconstruction following breast cancer.
Background: Pre-existing chronic liver diseases and the complexity of the transplant surgery procedures lead to a greater risk of further surgery in transplanted patients compared to the general population. The aim of this monocentric retrospective cohort study was to assess the epidemiology of surgical complications in liver transplanted patients who require further surgical procedures and to characterize their post-operative risk of complications to enhance their medical care.
Patients And Methods: From January 1997 to December 2011, 1211 patients underwent orthotropic liver transplantation in our center.
Introduction: The deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap is a reliable and reproducible technique for autologous microsurgical breast reconstruction. Several recipient vessels sites for microvascular anastomosis have been described such as the internal thoracic vessels, the thoracodorsal vessels, and the circumflex scapular vessels. Nonetheless, the choice of the recipient site depends mainly on individual operator's experience and preferences, and currently the best recipient vessel site is under debate.

Despite, the main concern remains intraoperative hemorrhage. Currently, perioperative excessive blood loss during LLR is difficult to control with necessity of laparotomy conversion.

Diagnosis and therapeutic management of VCs constitute a major challenge in terms of increasing the success rate of liver transplantation. While surgical treatment used to be considered the first choice for management, advances in endovascular intervention have increased to make this a viable therapeutic option.

Introduction: Post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) is one of the most serious complications of liver resection and is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates.
Presentation Of Case: We report a case of PHLF involving clinical presentation of posthepatectomy-related 'small-for-size' syndrome (SFSS) secondary to obstructed venous outflow in the liver remnant, following extended right hepatectomy.
Discussion: PHLF is similar to SFSS in liver transplantation (LT) in terms of pathogenesis, clinical presentation and outcomes.
Background & Aim: Some aspects of human embryogenesis and organogenesis remain unclear, especially concerning the development of the liver and its vasculature. The purpose of this study was to investigate, from a descriptive standpoint, the evolutionary morphogenesis of the human liver and its vasculature by computerized three-dimensional reconstructions of human embryos.
Material & Methods: Serial histological sections of four human embryos at successive stages of development belonging to three prestigious French historical collections were digitized and reconstructed in 3D using software commonly used in medical radiology.

Background And Aim: Technological advances in the field of biological imaging now allow multi-modal studies of human embryo anatomy. The aim of this study was to assess the high magnetic field μMRI feasibility in the study of small human embryos (less than 21mm crown-rump) as a new tool for the study of human descriptive embryology and to determine better sequence characteristics to obtain higher spatial resolution and higher signal/noise ratio.
Methods: Morphological study of four human embryos belonging to the historical collection of the Department of Anatomy in the Faculty of Medicine of Reims was undertaken by μMRI.
