Currarino syndrome (CS) is a rare condition that presents with any combination of a sacral defect, a presacral mass, and an anorectal malformation. This collection, referred to as Currarino's triad, may not necessarily present as all three abnormalities in the diagnosis of the syndrome. Anal canal duplication (ACD) is an even rarer occurrence.

Coupled pairs of nuclear spin-1/2 support one singlet state and three triplet states. Transitions between the singlet state and one of the triplet states may be driven by an oscillating low-frequency magnetic field, in the presence of couplings to a third nuclear spin, and a weak bias magnetic field. The oscillating field is in the same direction as the bias field and is called a WOLF (Weak Oscillating Low Field) pulse.

(1) Background: Obesity is a major global public health concern as it is associated with many of the leading causes of preventable deaths. Exercise reduces obesity-induced inflammation; however, it is unknown how exercise training may impact mucosal associated invariant T (MAIT) cells in overweight/obese (OW) post-menopausal women. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate (i) circulating MAIT-cells at rest in OW vs.

Sacral ratio (SR) is currently the only measurement to quantitatively evaluate sacral development in patients with anorectal malformations (ARM). This study proposes sacral curvature (SC) as a new indicator to qualitatively assess the sacrum and hypothesizes that sacral development, both quantitatively and qualitatively, can be an indicator to predict the type of ARM. The study aims to investigate the difference of SR and SC between ARM types and the association with the type of ARM.

The flow in a spherical cavity on a curved round pipe is a canonical flow that describes well the flow inside a sidewall aneurysm on an intracranial artery. Intracranial aneurysms are often treated with a flow-diverting stent (FDS), a low-porosity metal mesh that covers the entrance to the cavity, to reduce blood flow into the aneurysm sac and exclude it from mechanical stresses imposed by the blood flow. Successful treatment is highly dependent on the degree of reduction of flow inside the cavity, and the resulting altered fluid mechanics inside the aneurysm following treatment.

The interactions between atoms and molecules may be described by a potential energy function of the nuclear coordinates. Nonbonded interactions between neutral atoms or molecules are dominated by repulsive forces at a short range and attractive dispersion forces at a medium range. Experimental data on the detailed interaction potentials for nonbonded interatomic and intermolecular forces are scarce.

Purpose Of Review: Ideally, after operative intervention, a child born with Hirschsprung disease (HD) should thrive, achieve fecal continence, and avoid recurrent episodes of abdominal distention and enterocolitis. However, a significant number of patients continue to struggle following their pull-through procedure. The purpose of this review is to present an organized and practical approach to the evaluation and management of the symptomatic patient post pull-through operation for HD.

The population imbalance between nuclear singlet states and triplet states of strongly coupled spin-1/2 pairs, also known as nuclear singlet order, is well protected against several common relaxation mechanisms. We study the nuclear singlet relaxation of C pairs in aqueous solutions of 1,2-C squarate over a range of pH values. The C singlet order is accessed by introducing O nuclei in order to break the chemical equivalence.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study over nine years included 349 patients, revealing that only 1.4% (five patients) experienced severe fatigue linked to clopidogrel, all of whom were women aged 39-68.
  • * Although 30% of patients showed a hyperresponse to clopidogrel, most did not report severe fatigue, indicating that while the side effect is rare, it is an important clinical concern for certain individuals.

Laparoscopy has a major role in the treatment of anorectal malformations (ARM) since Georgeson et al. introduced the laparoscopic assisted anorectoplasty in 2000. The majority of ARM can be repaired through a posterior sagittal incision without the need to enter the abdomen.

Molecular surgery provides the opportunity to study relatively large molecules encapsulated within a fullerene cage. Here we determine the location of an HO molecule isolated within an adsorbed buckminsterfullerene cage, and compare this to the intrafullerene position of HF. Using normal incidence X-ray standing wave (NIXSW) analysis, coupled with density functional theory and molecular dynamics simulations, we show that both HO and HF are located at an off-centre position within the fullerene cage, caused by substantial intra-cage electrostatic fields generated by surface adsorption of the fullerene.

P NMR spectroscopy and the study of nuclear spin singlet relaxation phenomena are of interest in particular due to the importance of phosphorus-containing compounds in physiology. We report the generation and measurement of relaxation of P singlet order in a chemically equivalent but magnetically inequivalent case. Nuclear magnetic resonance singlet state lifetimes of P pairs have heretofore not been reported.

Background And Purpose: Epidemiological studies have shown racial and ethnic minorities to have higher stroke risk and worse outcomes than non-Hispanic Whites. In this cohort study, we analyzed the STAR (Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm Registry) database, a multi-institutional database of patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy for acute large vessel occlusion stroke to determine the relationship between mechanical thrombectomy outcomes and race.

Methods: Patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy between January 2017 and May 2020 were analyzed.

Objective: There is a reported elevated risk of cerebral aneurysms in patients with intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs). However, the natural history, rate of spontaneous regression, and ideal treatment regimen are not well characterized. In this study, the authors aimed to describe the characteristics of patients with dAVFs and intracranial aneurysms and propose a classification system.

Objective: Cranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) are often treated with endovascular therapy, but occasionally a multimodality approach including surgery and/or radiosurgery is utilized. Recurrence after an initial angiographic cure has been reported, with estimated rates ranging from 2% to 14.3%, but few risk factors have been identified.

Objective: Cranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) are rare lesions, hampering efforts to understand them and improve their care. To address this challenge, investigators with an established record of dAVF investigation formed an international, multicenter consortium aimed at better elucidating dAVF pathophysiology, imaging characteristics, natural history, and patient outcomes. This report describes the design of the Consortium for Dural Arteriovenous Fistula Outcomes Research (CONDOR) and includes characterization of the 1077-patient cohort.

Objective: Current evidence suggests that intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) without cortical venous drainage (CVD) have a benign clinical course. However, no large study has evaluated the safety and efficacy of current treatments and their impact over the natural history of dAVFs without CVD.

Methods: The authors conducted an analysis of the retrospectively collected multicenter Consortium for Dural Arteriovenous Fistula Outcomes Research (CONDOR) database.

Introduction: Many patients with certain conditions require catheterizable channels for bladder and bowel management. There are a variety of accepted techniques for creating these channels; the split appendix technique enables the use of this organ for both procedures, obviating the need for more complex surgical procedures. Studies comparing outcomes across catheterizable channel types are limited.
