Forty-six patients treated with post-operative radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy for cancer of the testicle were investigated to study the effect of this adjuvant treatment on fertility, potency and libido. In general, no change occurred in either libido or potency, even when the remaining testis was atrophic. The post-operative treatment was the cause of sterility in 17 patients known to be previously fertile.

The results of treatment of 90 patients with operable oat cell carcinoma from 1966 to 1976 by low dose pre-operative cobalt radiotherapy and radical surgery are given. Forty-nine patients were given 1750 and 24 2500 cGy (rad), there being no survivors in this latter group. No explanation for this is put forward.

In series of 56 cases of non-invasive bladder tumours there was a 61.8% recurrence rate after endoscopic treatment. In 29 cases a trial of prophylactic, very low dose (750 rad) radiotherapy was given; this was administered within a few days of the primary treatment.

A study of 56 cases of non-infiltrating bladder tumour showed a striking difference in the distribution within the bladder of the primary and the recurrent tumours. More than three-quarters of the primary tumours were confined to a restricted area near a ureteric orifice whereas only one-fifth of recurrent tumours were found in this site. By far the commonest site for recurrent tumours was the postero-superior wall of the bladder.
