In this work, the design and characterization of new supported ionic liquid membranes, as medium-temperature polymer electrolyte membranes for fuel-cell application, are described. These membranes were elaborated by the impregnation of porous polyimide Matrimid with different synthesized protic ionic liquids containing polymerizable vinyl, allyl, or methacrylate groups. The ionic liquid polymerization was optimized in terms of the nature of the used (photo)initiator, its quantity, and reaction duration.

Findings: The GenTree Platform contains phenotypic and environmental data from 4,959 trees from 12 ecologically and economically important European forest tree species: Abies alba Mill. (silver fir), Betula pendula Roth.
The predicted recurrence of adverse climatic events such as droughts, which disrupt nutrient accessibility for trees, could jeopardize the nitrogen (N) metabolism in forest trees. Internal tree N cycling capacities are crucial to ensuring tree survival but how the N metabolism of forest trees responds to intense, repeated environmental stress is not well known. For 2 years, we submitted 9-year-old beech (Fagus sylvatica L.

Till now, this application is still limited due to chitosan high sensitivity to water. Some existing studies deal with the incorporation of hydrophobic additives to enhance water-proof performances of chitosan films.

To identify the best method for root biomass estimations, four different methods, with labour requirements, were tested at the same location.
Methods: The four methods, applied in a 6-year-old Eucalyptus plantation in Congo, were based on different soil sampling volumes: auger (8 cm in diameter), monolith (25 × 25 cm quadrate), half Voronoi trench (1·5 m(3)) and a full Voronoi trench (3 m(3)), chosen as the reference method.
A one-pot synthesis of various N-substituted 3-amino-thiochromanes from 4-benzyl-2-methyl thiazoline via a thiazolinium salt is described. The obtained 3-amino-thiochromanes are enantiopure, as their precursors derive from chiral 2-aminoalcohols. The reaction involves the formation of a disulfide, which subsequently takes part in an unprecedented intramolecular electrophilic aromatic substitution.

The properties of these new salts can be finely tuned by careful selection of the anion and the cation.

Recently, a t(2;3)(q13;p25) rearrangement, which juxtaposes the thyroid transcription factor PAX8 to the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) gamma1, was described in FTCs. In this report, we describe gene expression in 11 normal tissues, 4 adenomas, and 8 FTCs, with or without the PAX8-PPARgamma1 translocation, using custom 60-mer oligonucleotide microarrays.

We have previously shown successful gene transfer with a nonviral gene delivery system based on the simple chemical conjugation of plasmid DNA with antibody. However, this approach was hampered by low efficiency due to the poor translocation rate of DNA to the nucleus.

This technique allowed us to characterize in the gas phase very reactive species of this series, the conjugated and nonconjugated cyclopentene and cyclohexenethiones, and to compare the reactivity of these compounds. The assignment of the PE spectra is supported by electronic structure calculations, particularly by the HF method at the MP2 level and the density functional theory (DFT) using the B3LYP and BP86 functionals with the 6-311G(d, p) basis set.

In the presence of an ion-pairing agent used to increase resolution, reproducible maps were obtained within 55 min after injection of 12 fmol of protein. CE has also been employed as a direct and quick screening tool for purity evaluation of the tryptic peptides obtained from reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) prior to sequence analysis.
