Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the incidence of silicosis among workers in a ceramic factory and its connection to personal and work-related factors.
  • Respiratory symptoms and lung function were evaluated in a group exposed to silica (365 workers) compared to a control group (261 workers), finding higher cough and sputum rates in the silicosis group, although not statistically significant.
  • Workers exposed to higher dust concentrations experienced more sputum production, while overall findings suggested that the risk of silicosis increases with age and duration of exposure in the industry.
