Intravenous (IV) injection is widely recognized as the most effective and commonly utilized method for achieving systemic delivery of substances in mammalian research models. However, its application in adult zebrafish for drug delivery, stem cell transplantation, and regenerative and cancer studies has been limited due to the challenges posed by their small body size and intricate blood vessels. To overcome these limitations, alternative injection techniques such as intracardiac and retro-orbital (RO) injection have been explored in the past for stem cell transplantation in adult zebrafish.

Non-Pharmacological Interventions Targeting Sense of Coherence Among Older Adults and Adults With Chronic Conditions: A Meta-Analysis With Trial Sequential Analysis.

Background: Sense of coherence (SoC) is a core concept of 'salutogenesis' in positive psychology, correlated with emotional distress and disease development in adults with chronic disease and older adults. A diversity of non-pharmacological interventions (NPIs) has been developed to enhance SoC, but research findings are conflicting and the adequacy of sample sizes is uncertainty.

Objective: This paper aimed to explore appropriate interventions, evaluate the effectiveness of these SoC interventions and verify the statistical robustness and reliability of pooled results.

Left atrial myxoma metastasizing to the brain: a case report and review of literature.

Cardiac myxomas, the most common primary cardiac tumors, are believed to originate from multipotent mesenchymal cells. Approximately 75% of myxomas occur within the left atrium, increasing the risk of systemic thromboembolic events. While typically benign, atrial myxomas can rarely metastasize to the brain, with fewer than 60 cases reported.

Decontamination Validation of the BSL-4 Chemical Disinfectant Deluge Shower System.

Introduction: Positive pressure breathing-air-fed protective suits are used in biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) containment laboratories as personal protective equipment to protect workers from high-consequence pathogens. However, even with the use of primary containment devices, the exterior surfaces of these suits could potentially become contaminated with those pathogens and result in their inadvertent removal from containment. To address the risk of such pathogens escaping from containment via contaminated protective suits, these suits are decontaminated in a disinfectant chemical shower situated in an anteroom prior to exiting the BSL-4 laboratory.

The Relationship Between Dietary Patterns and the Epidemiology of Food Allergy.

Food allergies are increasing globally, particularly in Asia; however, the etiologies of allergic diseases remain poorly understood despite comprehensive studies conducted across a variety of populations. Epidemiological research demonstrates that food allergy is more prevalent in Westernized or urbanized societies than in rural or developing ones. As such, comparing the distribution and patterns of food allergies as well as the environmental exposures between regions may provide insight into potential causal and protective factors of food allergy.

Nurses' job embeddedness and turnover intention: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: This study aimed to review the relationship between job embeddedness and turnover intentions among nurses and explore the effects of the Job Embeddedness Scale, number of years in the career, education, and marital status on this relationship.

Methods: The review was conducted by searching the China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (CNKI), Weipu Database (CQVIP), China Biology Medicine (CBM), Wanfang Database, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CINAHL, and APA-PsycNet for articles on nurses' job embeddedness and turnover from intention up to March 2024. The research quality was evaluated using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) assessment criteria.

Structure and organization of full-length Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor in extracellular vesicles by cryo-electron tomography.

Unlabelled: We report here transport of the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), Insulin Receptor, 7-pass transmembrane receptor Smoothened, and 13-pass Sodium-iodide symporter to extracellular vesicles (EVs) for structural and functional studies. Mass spectrometry confirmed the transported proteins as the most abundant in EV membranes, and the presence of many receptor-interacting proteins demonstrates the utility of EVs for characterizing membrane protein interactomes. Cryo-electron tomography of EGFR-containing EVs reveals that EGFR forms clusters in the presence of EGF with a ∼3 nm gap between the inner membrane and cytoplasmic density.

Food Allergy in Children in China.

The prevalence of food allergies in China seems to be increasing, but there are limited studies describing the pattern of food allergies across the country. This review highlights regional variations observed across China, with data indicating a higher prevalence in the more economically developed eastern and southern coastal regions compared to inland areas. Egg and milk are the most common allergies among children under 3 years old; for children above 3 years old, specific food allergens also show regional differences, with shellfish allergies being more common in southern and eastern coastal areas, while wheat and fruit allergies are more prevalent in northern regions.

DNA repair and anti-cancer mechanisms in the long-lived bowhead whale.

At over 200 years, the maximum lifespan of the bowhead whale exceeds that of all other mammals. The bowhead is also the second-largest animal on Earth, reaching over 80,000 kg. Despite its very large number of cells and long lifespan, the bowhead is not highly cancer-prone, an incongruity termed Peto's Paradox.

The Feasibility of Implementing the WHO Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) Framework in Singapore.

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) introduced the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) approach to assist communities in evaluating the intrinsic capacities of older adults and proposing strategies to prevent, mitigate, or reverse declines. This study represents the inaugural attempt to assess intrinsic capacities among older adults in Singapore, aligning with the nation's Healthier Singapore (Healthier SG) initiative aimed at enhancing quality of life.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the feasibility of implementing Step 1 screening of the ICOPE framework, which assesses cognition, locomotion, vitality, psychological state, visual and auditory functions, within the Singapore context.

Asian birth cohort studies on allergic diseases: The A2BC network initiative.

The Asia Allergy Birth Cohort (A2BC) network consolidates data from multiple independently established birth cohorts across Asia to enhance research on host-environment interactions in allergic diseases. These cohorts, established at different times with various methodologies, are reliable data sources. Our aim is to introduce the content, variables, and outcomes of these cohorts while highlighting their differences, laying the groundwork for future collaborative research.

CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing with Nexiguran Ziclumeran for ATTR Cardiomyopathy.

Background: Transthyretin amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is a progressive, often fatal disease. Background: In Canada, 2 guidelines provide guidance for the management of dyslipidemia. The Patients, Experience, Evidence, Research simplified lipid guidelines, intended for primary care practitioners, and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society guidelines, intended for all practitioners, are based on differing methodologies with distinct priorities and preferences. The disparate approaches may contribute to confusion among family practitioners and their co-managed patients, with the potential for compromised care, differing standards for training in the fundamentals of lipidology, and differing criteria that might be used in practice audits to evaluate quality of care.

Exploring the Influencing Factors of Experienced Nurses' Retention Behaviour: A Qualitative Study Based on the COM-B Model.

Aim: The aim of this study was to explore the factors influencing the retention behaviour of experienced nurses in China, using the capability, opportunity, motivation and behaviour (COM-B) model as a conceptual framework.

Design: A qualitative descriptive study based on the COM-B model.

Methods: In this qualitative descriptive study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 22 nurses across 11 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area of China between March and May 2024.
