Heart failure (HF) is a chronic disease affecting 1%-2% of the global population.I-labeled -iodobenzylguanidine (mIBG) is US Food and Drug Administration-approved for cardiac imaging and prognosis risk assessment in patients with HF. As a norepinephrine analog, mIBG is believed to be transported into adrenergic nerve terminals by the neuronal norepinephrine transporter (NET) and hence image sympathetic innervation of the myocardium.

Accurate predictions of renal drug-drug interactions (DDIs) mediated by the human organic cation transporter 2 (hOCT2) and multidrug and toxin extrusion proteins (hMATEs) remain challenging. Current DDI evaluation using plasma maximal unbound inhibitor concentrations (I) and IC values determined in single transporter-transfected cells frequently leads to false or overprediction especially for hMATE1. Emerging evidence suggests intracellular unbound inhibitor concentration may be more relevant for hMATE1 inhibition in vivo.

Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a qualitative developmental defect of enamel that occurs during the mineralization phase. Patients with MIH have increased risk of caries, hypersensitivity, and restoration failures. The present case report describes the treatment of a 10-year-old patient exhibiting two teeth with atypical carious lesions.

The recalcitrance exhibited by many maize () genotypes to traditional genetic transformation protocols poses a significant challenge to the large-scale application of genome editing (GE) in this major crop species. Although a few maize genotypes are widely used for genetic transformation, they prove unsuitable for agronomic tests in field trials or commercial applications. This challenge is exacerbated by the predominance of transformable maize lines adapted to temperate geographies, despite a considerable proportion of maize production occurring in the tropics.

Small molecules targeting aberrant anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) are active against ALK-positive non-small-cell lung cancers and neuroblastoma. Several targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been shown to interact with polyspecific organic cation transporters (pOCTs), raising concerns about potential drug-drug interactions (DDIs). The purpose of this study was to assess the interaction of ALK inhibitors with pOCTs and the impact of substrate-dependent inhibition on the prediction of DDIs.

(1) Background: A high concentration of sodium chloride on in vitro cell culture leads to reduced SARS-CoV-2 replication. Therefore, our aim was to evaluate the effects of inhaling hypertonic NaCl particles (BREATHOX) on the duration of COVID-19-induced acute symptoms. (2) Methods: A prospective, open label, randomized, standard of care-controlled group (SOC) pilot trial compared inhaled oral and nasal administered BREATHOX (2.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is a pediatric cancer with low survival rates in high-risk patients. I-mIBG has emerged as a promising therapy for high-risk NB and kills tumor cells by radiation. Consequently, I-mIBG tumor uptake and retention are major determinants for its therapeutic efficacy.

Background: Antimicrobial textiles have proved to be a promising biosafety strategy. Thus, the current study was focused on identifying which antimicrobial substances impregnated in textiles used in healthcare services confer efficacy in reducing the microbial load present in these textiles and/or the Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) rates, when compared to conventional textiles.

Methods: A systematic review of intervention studies using MEDLINE the PubMed portal, EMBASE, CINAHL, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar and medRxiv.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to determine the prevalence of adverse events in adult COVID-19 patients who are intubated and placed in a prone position through a systematic review and meta-analysis.
  • A total of 10 studies were analyzed, revealing that the most common adverse events included pressure injuries (59%), haemodynamic instability (23%), death (17%), and device loss or traction (9%).
  • The findings of this review can improve patient care protocols in intensive care settings and highlight the need for nurses to be aware of these potential complications while treating COVID-19 patients.

This article analyzes vulnerabilities and prospects of restructuring the lives of women who experienced maternity in prison. This qualitative study was performed with a thematic analysis of the reports of women released from the prison system who experienced pregnancy and delivery in a female penitentiary in a Southern Brazilian capital. Three thematic categories were identified: "Between rupture and freedom", a category focused on the description of moments before the borderline date for the child's stay with the mother in prison, which produces great expectations due to the possibility of women managing to get out of prison along with their child; "Freedom is right there", which narrates leaving prison and the first social contacts outside this environment; and "Inmate in daily life", which addresses the difficulties resulting from social exclusion that women were already facing before imprisonment, that is, having the minimum conditions to keep away from the crime dynamics.

Drought and salinity are two of the most severe abiotic stresses affecting agriculture worldwide and bear some similarities regarding the responses of plants to them. The first is also known as osmotic stress and shows similarities mainly with the osmotic effect, the first phase of salinity stress. Multi-Omics Integration (MOI) offers a new opportunity for the non-trivial challenge of unraveling the mechanisms behind multigenic traits, such as drought and salinity resistance.

The Wistar Hannover rat (WHR) is a strain commonly used for toxicity studies but rarely used in studies investigating depression neurobiology. In this study, we aimed to characterise the behavioural responses of WHR to acute and repeated antidepressant treatments upon exposure to the forced swim test (FST) or learned helplessness (LH) test. WHR were subjected to forced swimming pre-test and test with antidepressant administration (imipramine, fluoxetine, or escitalopram) at 0, 5 h and 23 h after pre-test.
