Introduction: Medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) has well-documented benefits for treating OUD, though its efficacy depends on patient adherence. We know little about outcomes of MOUD nonadherence compared to treatment regimens without MOUD, and this article aims to address the gap. This analysis focused on office-based MOUD treatment (buprenorphine and naltrexone) to evaluate the long-term impact of adherence on subsequent health care costs and health care events.

Research to date has only examined the psychometric performance of this measure in veteran SUD populations. The purpose of the current research is to examine the factor structure and validity in a non-veteran SUD population.

Effects of Telehealth on Dropout and Retention in Care among Treatment-Seeking Individuals with Substance Use Disorder: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth became a widely used method of delivering treatment for substance use disorders (SUD), but its impact upon treatment engagement and dropout remains unknown. We conducted a retrospective analysis of adult SUD patients (n = 544) between October 2020 and June 2022 among a cohort of treatment-seeking patients at a nonprofit community behavioral health center in Southwestern Ohio. We estimated the likelihood of treatment dropout using survival curves and Cox proportional hazard models, comparing patients who used telehealth with video, telephone, or solely in-person services within the first 14 days of diagnosis.

In this paper, we investigate evolutionarily recent changes in the distributions of speech sounds in the world's languages. In particular, we explore the impact of language contact in the past two millennia on today's distributions. Based on three extensive databases of phonological inventories, we analyse the discrepancies between the distribution of speech sounds of ancient and reconstructed languages, on the one hand, and those in present-day languages, on the other.

Life expectancy inequalities in Wales before COVID-19: an exploration of current contributions by age and cause of death and changes between 2002 and 2018.

Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic in Wales and the UK has highlighted significant and historic inequalities in health between social groups. Harvesting can induce rapid evolution in animal populations, yet the role of ecological change in buffering or enhancing that response is poorly understood. Here, we developed an eco-genetic model to examine how ecological changes brought about by two notorious invasive species, zebra and quagga mussels, influence harvest-induced evolution and resilience in a freshwater fish. Our study focused on lake whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis) in the Laurentian Great Lakes, where the species supports valuable commercial and subsistence fisheries, and where the invasion of dreissenid (zebra and quagga) mussels caused drastic shifts in ecosystem productivity.

Roux-en-Y intussusception after pediatric liver transplant - A case report.

Small bowel obstruction in a pediatric patient following liver transplant often results from adhesions, hernias, or post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease. Here, we present an unusual and previously unreported entity - Roux-en-Y intussusception in an eight-yr-old female several years after liver transplantation. Although a rare complication, Roux-en-Y intussusception should be considered as a potential etiology in the patient presenting with bowel obstruction, with specific attention to acute presentation accompanying jaundice.
