Objective: The present study was aimed at analyzing the association between elderly women's perception of their nutritional status (overweight and obesity) regarding their overall health in low-income neighborhoods in Curitiba, Brazil.
Methods: The sample consisted of 449 elderly women participating in the Idoso em Movimento program in low-income neighborhoods in Curitiba. Body weight and height were measured to calculate their Body Mass Index (BMI); 25 kg/m(2) and 30 kg/m(2) cut-off points were considered for determining weight status regarding being overweight and obese, respectively.
