[On reforming of pediatric service].

Results of processing, summarizing and analysis of data of special sociological survey are represented. Questionnaire in combination with sampling interview of workers of management units of okrug medical institutions, chief medical officers and heads of departments in pediatric clinics of City of Moscow was applied. Using megapolis pattern, the need in transformation of functioning of primary pediatric care institutions is validated.

The paper considers the topical aspects of the health status and sociomedical needs of children and adolescents; it shows it necessary to transform the activity of primary pediatric service facilities at the stage of reforming the country's public health system. The results of one of the largest sociological studies conducted among district pediatricians as to the organization of therapeutical-and-prophylactic and sociomedical and to children are discussed.

Application interactive CLASS software for stimulating productive binocular cooperation based on random-dot patterns and stereograms was used for treating strabismus and amblyopia in 105 children during a standard course of treatment. The children were divided into 3 groups treated by the CLASS alone (1), Class + two other application programs (2), and CLASS + traditional methods. Several aspects of the Moscow population health are analyzed: quality of life is compared with that in other world megalopolises, medico-demographic values and causes of death in the city are compared with those in other Russian cities, and morbidity in various population groups (children, adolescents, adults) is compared with that in other regions of the Russian Federation. Basic features of the health status of Muscovites are analyzed, as are some negative regularities in the time course of health characteristics, common for the critical period of development of Russia and leading to decrease of birth rate, increase of mortality of capable population, decrease of the expected life span, and increase in the incidence of contagious and other diseases.
