We investigate if narrative comments on the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) survey of inpatient pediatric care (Child HCAHPS) account for global perceptions of the hospital beyond that explained by reports about specific aspects of care.
Methods: We analyzed 545 comments from 927 Child HCAHPS surveys completed by parents and guardians of hospitalized children with at least a 24-h hospital stay from July 2017 to December 2020 at an urban children's hospital.
Background: This study will pilot-test an innovative just-in-time adaptive intervention to reduce severe respiratory illness among children with severe cerebral palsy (CP). Our intervention program, Respiratory Exacerbation-Plans for Action and Care Transitions (RE-PACT), delivers timely customized action planning and rapid clinical response when hospitalization risk is elevated.
Objective: This study aims to establish RE-PACT's feasibility, acceptability, and fidelity in up to 90 children with severe CP.

Methods: In this mixed methods study, 8 pediatric medical groups in California shared data for eleven subspecialties. We calculated the proportion of total visits delivered via telehealth by medical group for each subspecialty and identified the 8 most common International Classification of Diseases 10 diagnoses for telehealth and in-person visits in endocrinology and neurology.

In intact cells, assay readouts with commonly used fluorescence ΔψM probes are distorted by factors other than ΔψM. Study Design: In this prospective cohort study, enrolled parents of children with medical complexity (n = 75) from 3 complex care programs received text messages (at random times every 2 weeks for 3 months) asking them to rate their confidence to avoid hospitalization in the next month. Low confidence, as measured on a 10-point Likert scale (1 = not confident; 10 = fully confident), was defined as a mean rating <5.
Importance: The identification of variation in health care is important for quality improvement. Little is known about how different pediatric subspecialties are using telehealth and what is driving variation.
Objective: To characterize trends in telehealth use before and during the COVID-19 pandemic across pediatric subspecialties and the association of delivery change with no-show rates and access disparities.
Children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) use disproportionately more health care resources than non-CYSHCN, and their unique needs merit additional consideration. Spending on health care in the United States is heavily concentrated on acute illnesses through fee-for-service (FFS). Payment reform frameworks have focused on shifting away from FFS, addressing health outcomes and the experience of care while lowering costs, particularly for high resource utilizers.

Objective: Evaluate impact of a health system's patient portal reminders: (1) tailored to patient characteristics and (2) incorporating behavioral science strategies, on influenza vaccination rates among adults.
Objectives: In a large health system, we evaluated the effectiveness of electronic health record patient portal reminders in increasing pediatric influenza vaccination rates.
Methods: We conducted an intention-to-treat randomized clinical trial of 22 046 children from 6 months to <18 years of age in 53 primary care practices. Patients (or parent and/or proxies) who were active portal users were randomly assigned to receive reminder messages framed as gains or losses or no messages.
IL-36, which belongs to the IL-1 superfamily, is increasingly linked to neutrophilic inflammation. Here, we combined in vivo and in vitro approaches using primary mouse and human cells, as well as, acute and chronic mouse models of lung inflammation to provide mechanistic insight into the intercellular signaling pathways and mechanisms through which IL-36 promotes lung inflammation. IL-36 receptor deficient mice exposed to cigarette smoke or cigarette smoke and H1N1 influenza virus had attenuated lung inflammation compared with wild-type controls.
